Like FM suggested, it is a spam crackdown to get BF2s back from the chaos that really began with the "10000 posts lez do it" thread and then carried over to the temp forums. When the site came back on-line, did you notice that getting into this site is now more difficult? That's to cut down on spammers, trolls, forum abusers, etc.DoctaStrangelove wrote:
It seems as if the mods have been excessively strict recently. If a mod has they even the slightest objection to anything they will close the thread and say the same dumb shit all the time. Giving us the dumbest reasons for the closing of the threads. Their strictness has severely detracted from how much fun one can have on BF2s, unless of course you are posting in DST where you can post hateful shit and personal attacks without the slightest repercussion.
However what annoys me even more is the the mods were never this repressive until a few months ago. It used to be that you could post a thread without the mods changing the thread name. It used to be that you could condemn someone for saying stupid shit that no one cares about without having your post get deleted.
So if it wasn't like this always then what happened?
Simply, 4chan is not spelled B.F.2.S.
If you want to have tweenager lulz, then go on a tweenager site.
General quote to what ive been hearing alot. No one said this site is 4chan, just because you see something 4chan like doesnt mean its gonna take over bf2s
This isn't about "take over" it is about "content" ... that is, some material that might be appropriate and permissible on 4chan (or other sites) is not permitted on BF2s.Masterstyle wrote:

Sometimes, this prohibition is simply because the "content" is not wanted on this site (e.g. pornography or video of a beheading).
Sometimes, this prohibition is because border-line content was initially allowed, but then the user-base demonstrated too much 10-year old immaturity, and are not able to control themselves to post responsibly (e.g. "10000 lez do it" threads, or pedobear)
And your other 500 "i duno, lol" posts? Are they because of poll options as well?Masterstyle wrote:
I donno, lol was a poll option thats why I posted it. What does that have to do with 4chan? See this is what im talking about you guys get paranoid over something you think is 4chan related.Flaming_Maniac wrote:
Guys, I like men.
Are you sure it's the administration that's changed, not the userbase?
There were obviously problems on the temp forums, the rules were not enforced as strictly and in many cases that was taken advantage of. There was also an outbreak beginning when the server came back up, and we've been trying to break it. See the post above, or maybe a few above at this point, why did Master post that? It's just a stupid 4chan style response to a relatively well thought out post that demeans any serious topic posted. This is the kind of crap that has been on the rise of late, and we aren't going to stand for it.
This forum has been spammed to hell by some characters on this forum, and it's about time the mods start to use their ban buttons.

Yes, quite honestly, there are some members on this forum who RARELY contribute anything meaningful on this site. Their onslaught of mindless "I dunno, lol", lolcats, "tits or gtfo", etc. (though intended as humor) is tiring and will eventually lead to a perm ban.Jenspm wrote:

If it were done once in a while, then there would be no problem ... it would actually be funny ... but there is always a point where funny becomes annoying.
Perhaps instead of posting 10 dozen useless posts, that time and energy could be put into creating a single quality post that enriches the community.
I would say most posts that are closed deserve just that. Lot's of people are being idiots on these forums, and deserve to be smacked, and the mods are doing the closest they can do to that

AndI never mentioned 4chan, also I personally only once went onto 4chan. While 4chan is a less than reputable site it is not all bad and most of the stuff from it that gets post on BF2s is just silly stuff that many members find funny. I'm not saying that we should be able to post whatever like on certain sections of 4chan but the rules are being enforced to the point where anything that has any randomness to it is instantly deleted.Masterstyle wrote:

The less idiots there are the less bullshit i have to sift through to read meaningful posts. GG mods <3 you.

Well since my thread on I donno, lol http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=86179 got locked and I got an AWM for spam for making the thread Im not gonna stop saying it.
Since you won't stop saying it, we won't stop banning you for it. Well actually we will, after the perm.Masterstyle wrote:

I was making an attempt to not spam, how do I get an AWM for that?. Counterproductive dont ya think? Im not gonna stop saying it now.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

Are you kidding me, making a poll about what you say constitutes not spam? No single user deserves a thread in any form, especially making one about your own posting habits. I don't particularly care whether you stop saying it or not, it will get you a perm ban, you know that, the decision is in your hands.Masterstyle wrote:

Major Lulz, reporting for duty.

I'm curious. Who are these Internet memes intended to amuse, anyway? Certainly their humor effect is long gone on me and many others, and if the intent is to amuse yourself, there's a program called Notepad bundled with Windows. Or are there a certain bunch of people who just never stop finding "lulz" amusing and trade their "lulz" with each other, except not, since it's on a public forum?
Its a forum, we discuss things here. I made a poll to see how many people would want me to stop saying it and I was willing to not type it then you guys closed the thread, thats not spam. Now Im not gonna stop typing it which is spam, simple as that.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

Way to stand up for what you believe in. Not the smartest thing ever done, but if its what you believe, then I guess we will be seeing you some time later or with a different screen name.
That's another thing I'm wondering about. Permanent bans? How are members with 2, 3, 4 *permanent* bans still here doing the same things that earned them those bans in the first place?

What did I say I was standing up for? I was making a point, you obviously looked over it.Canin wrote:

I want an explaination as to what happened to the Pats Vs. Steelers thread...?

They are the same thing in this respect. Making a point by not stopping something because someone made you mad is hardly the mature path to follow.Masterstyle wrote:

The mods are 'killing lulz' because the lulzes really are not funny anymore. They are overused by people who don't seem to be mature enough to realize when to stop, so the mods will stop it for them. That's what their job is on these forums. They were less strict before, when people were smart enough to not abuse the freedom we had. Lolcats weren't banned until you found 5 in every thread. You weren't banned for saying "I donno, lol" until you started using that as your response more than half the time. If you guys would just realize when enough is enough, there wouldn't be any problems.
Perfect example. "Oh, you know, I've spammed this phrase to death, and now the mods are tired of it. I could just stop... Or I could stage a protest and keep on saying it!!" I mean really, where is your valiant little protest going to get you? Just don't spam with something and you won't get in trouble for it.Masterstyle wrote:

Stopping a phrase? Its you guys that made it come to this point by saying its annoying and making a big deal out of it.Canin wrote:
