Damn, there is a lot of elitism in First Person Shooters.
Looking at various threads such as "Post your KDR" or the one I just saw, something about "how valuable are you to your team," I notice that a huge majority of people are just... that good.
Well, I'm here to say that I'm only mediocre!
No, I'm not gonna just be a bitch and say "it's because I have a REAL LIFE," because I don't have more of a real life than anyone here...
I'm also not gonna blame my connection, computer or anything else.
I just never got that great at First Person Shooters, and never will.
Sure, I can have the highest score on my team, or in a game even! I can lead my team through all the cap points, I can get the bomb to the bombsite, I can really cut a notch into the enemy's tickets (and save some of our own!)...
But damnit, when I play well, I'm proud, because quite often I'm just hanging around the middle with an unimpressive number of kills, and quite often the most deaths on my team!
why would I post this about myself? Because if you probably asked everyone on BF2s what their KDR's or SPM's were in various games, you'd probably get huge numbers. For sure, a KDR approaching 2...
So then, tell me, besides battlefield, what game doesn't have an overall KDR of 1:1. One person kills, one person dies. This only changes with Medics...
So, where is that sub-one KDR?
Now, I'll admit that in a gaming-based forum, you'd think the average user would be pretty good at games, but I do think that some people just inflate their stats, and others don't post theirs because they're not "1337" enough.
Pshaw! I'm not that great and I DON'T CARE.
My KDR on CoD 4 is about .8
On BF2 it's .95, but considering the medic thing, that's REALLY REALLY UNIMPRESSIVE (and I almost strictly play IO).
In Counter Strike, you'd be arsed to find me in a game with a KDR over 75 percent.
In TF2, I probably COULD be over 1, but I play spy constantly and get killed quite a lot while kamikaze-ing turrets and teleporters.
So my point boils down to this:
What is with the leetness in FPS. Are people afraid to be bad? Why not just be honest. It's okay to be decent. The point is to have fun, not to always be the best.
I know your care cups may be empty, or maybe I have just /failed at what I'm writing, but it's something that I had to say, because I'm a bit tired of all this "1337"ness.
