Hi there, I have a rather average computer, Nvidia 6600gt 128mb graphics card, AMD ATHLON 3400, 1gb ram, unsure what motherboard. I have downloaded the latest drivers for my graphics card, but for some reason I am not getting the preformance that I should, I mean, I cant even play black and white 2 on low without serious lag, not to mention playing battlefield 2 on medium. Can anyone help me?

AMD Athlon 3500 64bit clocked from 2200Mhz - 2618Mhz
1280MB ddr 400
and bf2 run's at 100fps+ on medium - high
are you sure the setting's in bios are right like is it set to AGP 8 & fastrite
try going to your task manager and shutting down some processes, see if that helps
What driver exactly?
The newest are 81.98 on nv page
Newer must not be better.
Or go to producers' site of your gfx.
But the easiest way is to keep the old drivers

As for my drivers, I have 81.95.
Is there any way I can check if my graphics card is damaged/faulty? Because we just moved house and now the problems are occuring.
Download the newest driver 81.98 from nvidia page.
The 81.95 version has some bugs in program code, that cause problems in some games.
Use Aquamark and check if there crashes and hang-up times.
If this happen your gfx chip is damaged or overheated.
Is your card overclocked?

no, i dont even know how to overclock, so i dont think it will be.
I will try downloading this aquamark then.

Try deleting your 81.98 drivers and go back to version 77. See if that helps. New video drivers dont necessarily mean better drivers.
Ok, ill try that then.
Also, the Aquamark test turned out fine.

use the driversd on the bf2 disk, i am and it works fine
i use the Nvidia drivers on the BF2 disk. i've tried the updated ones from the Nvidia site, and the Omega drivers and i've had problems with both. lower frame rates, dynamic shadows were square and pixelated..
I have switched my drivers to the old ones, and i am still getting problems. If this continues I am going to call in a computer expert, because I should be getting much better out of my graphics card.
thanks! thats what i will do
