BF2S Forums Question About Badges.

I have a quick little question, when your trying to get your Combat Badges there are requirements. i.e.: Basic Engineer: IAR:
                                                                                                                                                                                    10 Kills While Engii

Does the IAR require you to make the kills with the main gun, as in the Engineer kit the Shotgun, or can you use grenades, pistol or knife?
Just curious because i reached my IAR for veteran Assault and didn't get the award.
