ok so last night i played ARMA (armed assault) for the second time. So any way i was in the town of mesbeti(spelling?) and my squad had just ran into a T-72 and a bmp-2 so I ran for the closest building loaded up my M136 AT4 and fired at the bmp 2 at the same time my Squad leader hit the T-72 in the ass they both blew Up then it said "Objective complete Town clear". so we called for an evac and a little bird came to pick us up as it was coming to land on  the street an SU-37 swooped in and shot it down IT HIT THE GROUND hard and a building collapsed in the explosion. the same building that I was in 15 sec earlier. so eventually we get a pick up and we are about 4KM out of pete when are little bird got strafed by the same SU-37 so the piolet baild and the other 5 of us sat in at waited it out we were only 10m off the ground the the bird hit the ground we jumped out. by this time its night and raining I have a m16A4 ACOG and M203 and one red flair so we place a map marker down and about 5 min later 2 little birds come and I launch a flair so they see are position and we get loaded up and go to peta and crush the enemy resistance!

IT WAS THE MOST EPIC experience i have had in a game yet. you would never have this much fun in a battlefield game!  (sorry for the long read but I had to share and I encourage all of you to try ARMA out it has a steep learning curve but one u get it its awesome)

lets say all the buttons on the key board are used but there pritty much the same as bf2 you have to change chopper controls they are utterly ridiculous the way they have it set up as default

The whole setup seemed like the developers wanted to throw what was good about BF2 (the controls and the streamlined ease of use) and make you fight not just with the enemy but with your own damned mouse and keyboard. I really wanted to try this game, but it seems like its for hardcore peeps. I loved the look of the AH-1Z and the new arsenals of MH-60 Gunships avaliable, that stuff really looks epic, and it looks plain awesome. The huge maps, theoretically huge amount of players...but then the textures are shit (wouldn't that as much if only the damned game was better optimized and the controls weren't such frustration) and it's just too much.

The guy has a monster computer, he can probably run the whole thing full settings no problem. I'm gonna try out the demo for this, hopefully my 7600GS, Athlon 3000 XP and 1GB of RAM can play the game on low settings.

BF2 runs nicely though, but it keeps messing up and i think it's PSU problem (even though games like HL2/Insurgency run fine for HOURS on high)

Wonder how it'll run.

Runs fine on my system, but I found the control system way too clunky. You feel too far removed from the action, which spoiled it for me, not that I've played it for more than about 15 mins, I got bored with it and decided not to play it (much like I did with Stalker and 2142).

Yeah, you feel very disconnected with the action, mainly because you're fighting your keyboard more than the enemy.

greatest game for clans....especially my clan with realistic military environment.

the story you told is like the ones i get with my clan all the time.....missions time average around 5-6 hours......i cant describe how....immersive they are. and the greatest thing about the game i found are the mods and missions.

you can have almost make any mission you can think of with the help of scripting.

IMO...the demo sucked, it ran very bad on my comp, but perfect in full version.
