bf 1942 problem

Hello,

Having received Battlefield 1942 the complete collection, I have a problem joining Internet Servers. I installed all 8 cds' I then updated bf 1942 and Vietnam patches and then updated Punkbuster. It still tells me I have wrong version when I try to connect to servers. If I connect to servers that dont have the punkbuster logo, it connects fine.

First of all. Vietnam patches? For 1942?...This might be the problem. I think the last patch was the 1.61b btw...might want to look for it.

Have you played that game recently, the differences between the graphics of it and battlefield 2 make it almost unplayable IMHO.

Thats what it was. I didn't have the 1.61b patch. I'll let you know how it goes.

As far as playability, I just like to play different games. I have Mechwarrior: Vengance I play from time to time. It is true bf 2 has the best graphics ever but quality in the game is good. I'm not saying I don't like bf2. It's one of my fav games but I also like variety.

I am still kinda at a standstill. I can play on non-punkbuster servers. If I try to play on servers that enable punkbuster, It just tells me wrong version. Here are the two patches I have right now:

battlefield_1942_patch_v1.6.19.exe
battlefield_1942_incremental_patch_v1.6_to_v1.61b.exe

Now I believe I have bf 1942 v 1.0. I ran through battlefield_1942_patch_v1.6.19.exe and then through battlefield_1942_incremental_patch_v1.6_to_v1.61b.exe. It looks a little backwords to me I suppose but I would think you would do the full patch and then the incremental? It's kinda driving me crazy and making me want to format.

That error says it upgrades from 1.0. Reinstall the game and patch with just that one.

Edit: Actually its saying you have newer than it patches to.

1942 is probably the best game in the BF series. DC and FH are def. worth a dwnld.
hmm im not sure how to fix the problem ur having. try a clean uninstall and reinstall. then patch with 1.61b
if its something with PB, try finding the PB.exe file in ur BF folder. run it and it may dwnld the latest version of PB.

P.S. if u dont really like the play of vanilla 1942...try FH if ur really into realism and WWII. insane amount
of variety and realism. though..u might already know this

oo...what version does the Collection come with? that may be ur problem.
look for a "universal" 1.61b patch that updates all versions

I downloaded the Battlefield 1942:Vietnam patches and it works fine now :-)
