Yes, one of my pins is from a zero point round: Entered the game in our cargo bay and immediately heard the message about the enemie's Titan in critical condition. Used the pod to jump over to the lower deck and just after the dust had cleared it said that their Titan is gone. So I jumped off and got the pin.
As allready written above the major aspect is to hurry up. When you are at the core room you really have to run, hardly no time for a last fire fight or running into people or walls (happens sometimes due to extreme lags or to many people who want to escape).
You have to touch the ground before the final animation starts to achieve the pin. Using the parachute to early will take to much time, so open it as close to the ground as possible.
(Yes, this may result in a suicide (and no pin) occasionally, especially on laggy and / or high ping rounds. On the other hand I got a few pins close to the ground but still in the air, but this could be a ping problem too.)
