Now, let me say this. I've had Battlefield 2 ever since the demo came out, and I've loved it. I've almost got 300 hours into it, I've also got around 50 hours in Battlefield 2142, and only around 25ish in Battlefield: Vietnam, so I think I've played a good deal playing the battlefield series. The one thing I don't understand is why people hate 2142. In every thread I read on this board that is "My BF2142 isn't working" or something like that, every other post is made by BF2 veterans saying "GOOD RIDDANCE, BF2142 IS A PEICE OF SHIT"

Why? I mean, I don't understand the point of absolutley hating this game, In my opinion you're just cheating yourself out of a good game. Now, I'll admit, I was part of the big band wagon at once, screaming "EA sux BF2 with lazerguns" and etc. Judging the game from the demo or beta is a bad idea too
I perseonaly like switching around between the different BF games...I don't see the point of boxing myself into one game and being ignorant about the other one. Anyway, the point of this thread is just to ask all the haters what's so bad with 2142? What's the point of spamming up threads with flaming?

I see your point. I do not like 2142 at all for so many reasons, but that is, of course, just my opinion.

The problem I have with 2142 is gaming reasons, which is just personal preference. But one major aspect is that 2142, a new poduct is rife with flaws and bugs. which BF2 had.   

Realistically EA would learn from thier mistakes. Granted, Bf2 is a great game an I love playing it, but there are some flaws in which EA could have learned from.  But no,  It seems EA pushed a product out poisoned with bugs.  Are the bugs enough to make it a "bad" game? No, 2142 is a good game.  But, it was enough, combined with its type of gameplay to turn me away.

It may have been a game I would have played. I DID play it.  I prefered BF2 over it, but still a solid game.  Then the bugs showed up and it pushed me over the edge.  I gave up and will never pick up 2142 again.

I don't loathe the game by any means, it just sparks not enough interest to get into it.

The game is a shit mod compared to bf2 & the fact that they charged so much for it was an insult. They went the wrong direction when they should have been making full expansions for bf2 vanilla & SF as well. Instead they went they easy way & made a mod whilst trying to get the cash for a "new" game. Also how they handled bf2 was crazy, giving into the demands of the noobs & patching the game to death always leading to more interesting bugs left a sour taste in a lot of players mouths. How they treated chuy by inviting them all down, giving them beta keys & then shafting them all with the stats pages.
The feel of the game, the bugs, the only plus I give to the game is the incorporation of team work which wouldn't be hard to add some team work points to bf2.
The game was bought for me by a friend so I didn't have to spend the money, so I'm not bitter at being riped off, just honest.

neat to look at.. some cool new ideas but overall the gameplay is just slow and bad compared to bf2 i played about 30 hours of it and got sick of unlocking 1 of 40 some pointless things at a time. if it were actually new, few bugs and maybe fun gameplay then i might have kepy playing it but its as well as dead now after the few first months of excitement and ea has finally started putting support back into bf2 and started developing bf3 now.. lets just hope thats a NEW game and sweet

Generally, it just isn't as fun and in no way what people thought it would be like. I whored it, I went up to a Brigadier General, then I realized how much time I wasted on it - and went back to BF2 (particulary, PR) and love it.

I'm a bit similar to ole kyle here on this one. Right now, I'm on my final push it hit Brig General, and after that, I doubt I'll play it much anymore. I enjoy it quite a bit, and enjoy being a relatively high rank, and I absolutely love finally get rewarded for getting awards. Realistically though, I'm going to put it down for awhile once I hit Brig, and probably pick it up here and there. I think it was worth the purchase and worth the time spent, but I have been going back to BF2, especially the DCon and PR mods, lately.

I'm a 2142 advocate. I find it's more balanced than BF2 and people are less concerned with scores and stats. This generally leads to a friendlier game environment. It's buggier than BF2 and not as much thought and effort was put into it and it is simply a way for EA to get more money, but that said, I just find it's the better game.

Well..your right on many point...but balanced? What about the g363....i mean the Voss? That gun make me hate 2142! Shame because the game is good...i LOVE the dogtag idea when knifing some 1!

DICE found that it was more economical to reuse some code from BF2. By doing this DICE was able to put out the game faster, cheaper, and with less bugs. People then saw the similarities and because people on the internets love to complain about shit for no reason they attack it.

I like BF2142 because it is like BF2 yet at the same time quite different. But I still think that BF2 is the best game ever.

I agree. I play both BF2 and BF2142. They're both good fun. (but i prefer BF2 )

I did too until i got some time with the full game. Then i realised just how different the gameplay was and decided i liked it. I even went as far as buying my own copy .

Voss overpowered, you got to be fucking kidding me. The Krylov and Lambert own the Voss every time. The Voss is n00b-friendly, but a master of the Krylov or Lambert could own a master of the Voss.
