oooohhhhhh, i would like to see the link to this "study" also.
Whats going on?
Please don't troll on a forum you JUST joined (ALL FOUR/FIVE OF YOUR ACCOUNTS) there is no need (Unless you find it in yourself) to be an upset to a whole community of people.
I appreciate your first vote and your contribution. Not that it matters much to me, but it might matter to others, I wish you would not have voted to tip the scale in favor of your choice. If you feel at all sympathetic to others I would request you not make any more accounts to just fool around. I would like for this poll to stay in order.

Nature is a powerful force. Those who seek to subdue nature, never do so permanently.
Both...
you need intelligence and good reflexes....simple
you need intelligence and good reflexes....simple
Also do not ever forget ping plays a role alongside both intelligence and your reflex
Reflexes.
Pay attention TO THE POLL QUESTION.Alone+EasyTarget wrote:

come on people bring some rational debate to this thread and don't just repeat what everyone else has been saying like parrots.

I dont think you should be trying to tell people what poll option they should choose. Most people here think Intelligence is the one and they are right.DivineMomentofTruth wrote:

Reflexes (low ping)
I'll say intelligence, it takes brains to know where a sniper is going to be, you have to think of all possible places and look for something out of place.
You must be retarded. I was telling people to explain why they chose their opinon without repeating whats already said. Can you please stay out of this thread you're just lowering our intelligence by posting.Bullet_Force wrote:

It takes next to no intelligence to find a sniper:M.O.A.B wrote:

-listen to gunfire - react <<<reflexes
-look for muzzle flash -react <<<reflexes
-look in places you would hide <<< experience/learned reflex
With that theory disproven, why are we talking about snipers anyway? Does the whole game revolve around finding snipers or sniping. You have serious problems if you're having trouble finding snipers in this game... sorry doesn't take intelligence to do so.

Agree with the sniper stuff DMT said.
Who has no intelligence and reflexes plays support. Who has no reflexes plays sniper.
Who has both plays medic.
Simple as it is.

Who has lots of time on their hands plays medic on Karkand only.blacklupus wrote:

I play sniper alot, and I wouldn't exactly say that I have no reflexes.blacklupus wrote:

Sniper is good if your eating your Big Mac and ain't got a lot free fingers.
Intelegence. It is all about tactics and approach. I give my brother inlaw a hard time because he likes to run into crouded areas and just try to kill as many people as possible. He usually does alright but he alwasy ends up dead. I on the other had can almost always figure out a way till kill the most annoying enemy. It is all about strategy, what route you take from A to B. What kit you chose when attacking and defending. The greatest relexes will always fail if you run after a tank with a knife. Reflexes are useless without strategy, but even a sloth can beat his emeny if he understands the way it attacks and can counter it.
Reflexes are the time it takes to move that mouse to where you need it. Not the act of doing it. Yes you Learn how to aim/take cover/evade fire, but the act of doing these things isn't part of reflexes. It may be unconscious thinking, so along those lines, you'd consider your heart beating a reflex. So if you had the best reflexes in the world, your heartbeat would be the fastest in the world?DivineMomentofTruth wrote:
Knowing where and how to aim is definitely part of your reflexes since it is an unconscious skill that relies on hand-eye coordination. Dodging bullets, jumping behind a building, proning, are all learned relfexes in the game to avoid death. The thing that makes them reflexes is that you're not consciously activating your mind to perform the given tasks, because if you did... you wouldn't survive long or kill anyone for that matter. Can you honestly tell me that you consciously think that you're now going to move your hand so that your crosshair is pointed at an enemy? I've already defined intelligence as conscious and rational consideration of long term outcomes and the processes that are necessary to fulfill them. Bf2 only offers this complexity in highly coordinated team competitve play.
So when you take fire, you don't think your mind is thinking "ok, where's the shots coming from? Where's the closest cover?" If you weren't thinking about these things, you'd just run off some direction, even directly at the guy. Sure these thoughts take less than a quarter second, but they still take consideration of the map that you've learned, and possible locations of the enemy, that you've learned. Granted, the quicker reaction you have, the better chance you have to survive, but you cannot tell me that when you take fire and find cover that you are working solely on reflexes.DivineMomentofTruth wrote:

I'm not trying to twist what you're saying into my point, I'm just trying to point out that you need to think about how you reply to a statement before you type something and submit without thinking about it.

How many times have you read the post of "Freakin idiot chopper gunner trying to shoot the tank with the chain gun!" Bet the gunner has some reflexes, being able to hit the target, but because he hasn't learned that the gun does nothing, well, he's useless.
How many medics have you killed because they reacted to a dead body around a corner, but didn't think about how there'd probably be an enemy right there too?
I've been playing this game since the second day after it was released. Played the demo for at least a week before that. I currently have the world's worst cable connection imaginable. I'm lucky to hit 15 FPS with my 30 ping (Don't say it's my computer because when I had my T3 dorm internet and a ping of 5 in every server, I had FPS of 70+). By the theory of someone having better reactions than me (Because it takes close to a full second for me to get the cross hairs near someone) I should never get a kill. But somehow I still manage to get a positive K/D because I can easily outsmart the average player. No, don't give me that Tank whore bit again. I've been AT in vehicle maps ground pounding for the last 50+ hours of game time.

Reflexes, I think my skills prove that.
Alpha as fuck.
i love how people refer to moving a mouse as a "skill".Nyte wrote:

i wonder what else you are skilled in? starting a car? what about turning on your PC?
damn, i am one skilled motherfucker...i can do that and more, WOW!
Take for granted everyone at least have an average intelligence and average reflexes what would they benefit most from? A superbrain? top-notch reflexes? - reflexes you don´t need a superbrain to make strategical and tactical choices in bf2.
that´s my opinion.
that´s my opinion.
8 more votes for Reflexes, and 7 for Intelligence
The Poll Statistics would be the following if it weren't for our new member: Bullet_force, Man_of_Wisdom, Wake_is_Cool, BombThud to vote 4 times (assuming) for Intelligence:
Intelligence: 144
Reflexes: 139

I like the false analogy... but seriously if you plan to accuse me of not thinking before posting you should at least brush up on your science. The region of the brain responsible for reflexes is the cerebellum including the motor cortex, while the brainstem is what regulates involuntary muscles such as your heart and lungs. So no, your heart beat is not a reflex.Drexel wrote:

As far as your definition of reflexes: its also false. A reflex is the action or response to a given stimulus. Now scientifically I don't think anyone has a clear cut idea of what parts of your brain are being activated and your state of consciousness when performing hand eye coordinated tasks such as playing ping pong or pc gaming. BUT... I'm willing to bet that in fast paced pc shooter a majority of the movements such as aiming your mouse are learned reflexes. In my personal experience when I play a game of ping-pong there's virtually no conscious awareness about where I'm going to strike or how I'm going to strike. The faster the game gets going, the less I think about anything in particular. The second some kind of thought pops in my head I usually miss or hit the ball off the table. While I realize ping pong isn't the same as bf2 but the gist of the analogy is there. BF2 is like a game of ping pong but your more consciously engaged. The majority of the time, particularly in the heat of battle your reflexes take over. Yes I honestly can tell you I almost never think before taking cover or aiming for someone... it could be because I've played so much karkand infantry by now that I no longer need to, but either way its probably a learned relfex. While I may have to detract my previous statement about hand eye skills being completely unconscious, I still believe they are semi-conscious and certainly not pronounced enough to be called intelligence. If this poll would have been hand-eye coordination vs intelligence then there would be no doubt, but as reflexes are only a part of hand-eye its a bit more complicated.
Concerning your statement that if I wasn't thinking consciously about taking cover or aiming that I would run or fire in random directions; well thats just a bunch of nonsense. Once again I can see or hear or see on screen where the danger is and my conditioned response or reflex to put it loosely is to take cover. I guess that sums up my stance thus far.
