Well, I downloaded the demo today and decided to write a review for armed assault.
GRAPHIC:
Well, Armed Assault gfx is somewhere between COD2 and Battlefield 2's graphics. With everything set on high, it looks a bit like COD2, yet also a bit like bf2. The game looks ok at everything on high, yet I still feel like they can be improved a lot. Not the best I've seen. Hope the full version will be better. I have to mention that my FPS was only at 30~40 fps with everything on low/mid. I get around 60~75 FPS for bf2 on everything high. Hope the retail version will be better. The guns and choppers didn't look bad and it looked slightly better than bf2. The lighting however, was bad. The sun was actually nice, but explosions looked like something from a game a decade ago. The tracers rounds are also very thin and don't look realistic. The effect of bullet hitting something is also gay and the are absolutely no bullet holes except on the ground. Bf2 looks a 100x better than armed assault in gun impact affects and tracers. Blood, though was extremely impressive. I was very pleased with the blood, which was basically the only thing I liked about the game's graphics. Vehicles looked nice but can be improved. The ruins of the vehicle was neat. I heard that buildings can be destroyed, but that didn't happen to me. There was absolutely no destructible environment in the game. There is dynamic damage to the game btw. For example, if a soldier gets injured too much, he can only crawl very slowly. However, his helth does not sap off like PR. I am not sure about vehicles, though, for I didn't play multiplayer yet. However, if you are in a chopper and you get damaged, your gas starts leaking out and your load will be drained quickly, causing you to crash.
Sound:
Well, sound is quite horrible. The commanders voice is really really gay. It's like if some 5 year old tried to make the game. Choppers aren't bad, but guns need a lot of improvement. End of topic.
Gameplay:
Gameplay was pretty nice. Guns have realistic damage effects. Teamplay was crucial. Choppers were very hard to control. It was very different from bf2. It was just like PR. There were no 1 meter firefights, like bf2. Aircrafts had to fly at a hight of some distance, because they would crash if they didn't. Gernades had a large blast radius, unlike bf2. Radio commands were used, which I liked. The entire map was huge and had realistic combats. It seemed like a army simulator. The game did lag quite a lot though.
Overall:
Well, The game does look quite promising, but it needs a lot of improvement. I hope the retail version will be better. I am still deciding whether I should buy this game or not. It seriously needs to be worked on the graphics, yet also has to be enhanced on the FPS.I give the demo a 7.5 out of 10.
Note: If you disable the prosperous effect or something like that and one other setting, you will get a huge boost in FPS.
