I would go with the ASUS's. They are all I run. I know someone with that mobo and he loves it. Am thinking about going to AMD myself.

asus boards are a good learning experience but i would go with dfi.
asus for me=learning a new problem and how to solve it
DFI never had any probs with a DFi board.

EDIT: personally I would find an equialint MSI board, all my machines are msi. Asus might have cuttin edge tech but msi seems to use tested technology I have never had an msi board that wouldnt accept an driver/bois update.

Do you plan on Overclocking, or just want stability?

Id go for the Asus32 with 2x true PCI-E 16's if you are running 2 quality cards like that

Wat a stupid question, why even think of going for dfi's x2x8 slots when you can have 2 slots of x16 goodness,  go for the asus

Ironically I read a few different reviews of the Asus A8N32-SLI and the normal Asus A8N-SLI.  They used the same setup I am going for with 2 7800 GTX's in SLI on both boards.  The A8N32 actually had less fps and dts.  The A8N-SLI recorded anywhere from 4 - 15 fps faster.  I really need to get some honest opnions on these.  I am leaning toward the DFI but I originally wanted to get the Asus board.  Let me know what you honestly think!

I know, I know but I am really pressing for the DFI unless someone can provide facts that show it isnt a good choice!

to show u it isnt a good choice: it doesnt run sli on 16X, and asus is better w/ cooling

I understand that it doesnt run both SLI in 16.  But the reviews I read said that running them both at 16 didnt show a real difference worth the price.

Well if it'll help you make the decision... I recommend going with ASUS.  However... either board are good and the board that suits you will depend on your needs and what you want out of it.

The DFI board you mention is known to be overclocker-friendly and provides loads upon loads of options within the BIOS to fully tweak your system for the utmost optimal performance one can gain out of it.  If you plan on overclocking heavily or want the absolute highest performance you can gain, this is it.

On the other end of the spectrum, ASUS is, to me, considered to be the Lexus of motherboard -- expensive and high quality.  Though one can debate about that, we'll stick with the topic.  The ASUS board you mentioned is, of course, high-end and does feature two PCI Express x16 slots regardless of card configuration.  It is currently questionable as to whether or not this is truly needed, as we have yet to find anything that is able to take advantage of the X16 bus/bandwidth for gaming applications.  It is the best you can get.  But one can question if it's needed.  If you plan on upgrading regularly, then it's not a good idea to get a board like this, as something better will always come eventually.  If you don't plan on getting anything for a long time, then maybe the ASUS board may be worth it to you in the long run.

In either case, your choice is dependent on your needs.  Other people will recommend one over the other.  But my suggestion is to take a practical look at your options and weigh in the factors to help come to your decision.

For reference, you can view this link to help come to a better conclusion as to which board is right for you.  Good luck and let us know what your final choice is.  I, for one, will say it's a good board no matter what you choose.

to make the decision pretty easy for you..

if you going to OC your cpu you should pick the DFI board.
if you dont plan to OC go with the asus.

BUT all this talk about PCI-E x16 on both slots is not worth talking about yet..
why?? because NO GFX yet on the market are using its full bandwith and not even half.. so it REALLY dosnt matter to run SLI or single card for that matter on a x8 or x16 port.. you dont get better improvement..
so if you OC its DFI if not then i would take the asus due to it will last longer with the two x16 ports.

SATA is newer and faster, sasa means serial ata, theres sata 2nd generation now which transfers data at 3.0gb a second

If I dont care about data transfer speeds, it should matter between IDE or SATA, correct?

IDE is old?  That is the only bad thing you have to compare to SATA is to say it is old?
