AMD 4200+ (Dual)
Ati X850 XT PE
A8N-SLI
Not yet a soundcard (looking for 1)
I hope BF2 is coming with a special patch for DUAL core processors like the people of Call Of Duty 2 did....!!!

I belive the best amd cpu is the dual core fx-60 it just came out. Also I have built many computers and I hear from people amd for gaming and intel for business stuff. But I think singal core cpus are still good. Dual core work good with games but the game only uses one core and the other core is used for other background proccesses.
my system specs:
amd 64 x2 4400+ @2.5ghz
DFI LANPARTY ut ultra-D
4x512 sticks of corsair memory
7800GT evaga
Go with AMD

And remember you get what you pay for.RDMC wrote:

I want a new system, cuz mines crap:
Pentium 4 1.5GHz
512MB RAM
ati radeon 9200
crappy sound card (i bet thats the name too :p)
what should i upgrade to?
I run a 3.4 Gig P4 w/ HT 1mb cache, 1gig dual 512mb Crucial Ram @ 533mhz and a GeForce 6800 Ultra w/ 256Mb memory. It does the job nicely. Go with Pentium dude.
Both of my Xeon Rigs are doing fine the dual 3.4 Nacona rig (secondary box) and my PrimaryNabraham wrote:
Also, to the people using Xeon processors...how are they holding up?
3.6 irwindales humm along nicley, it makes it nice at lan parties being able to serve 64 player games
and have zero lag while people leech off of you too... I do highly recommend running server 2003 to make use of the more than 3 gb of ram. (server 2003 games better than XP64)
Xeons are good server cpus. there now showing to be more cost efficient compared to the ithium 2 ,something like that
They also make Damn good workstation CPUS also......both my Xeon rigs are gamers and my Dual Opteron rig is my file server / storage boxMaj.Do wrote:

Just your opinion Intel Nvidia Asus motherboard and you can kick ass[DHG]Col.Kilroy wrote:

i have a Xeon system, my server of course but i never played a game on it except bfvAveryHawk wrote:

The trick is to get the Workstation class boards, Tyan, Iwill, and the like and the HT Xeons are much better....Maj.Do wrote:

I run BF2 maxed out and my total cpu load never gets past 40%. My main rig runs the Iwill DN800-SLI board,
I highly recommend it.
AMD is the way to go, they are clocked slower but there architecture shits all over amd meaning there faster and oc great, get an opter 146 s 939, stoock 2/2.2ghz but fucken verclock like a frog in a sock
That's true but The makers of call of duty released a special patch for dual core processors so the game can work with 2 processors! The people of Bf2 must do the same thing like they did!laser3476 wrote:

well 3200+ would be close
AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (754)
1 GB DDR SDRAM (PC3200)
MSI RS400-IL Mobo
Onboard Audio
256 MB Sapphire ATI Radeon X600 Pro
Plays BF2 very well on 1024x768 with mostly high settings and 6x AA.
Intel sucks @$$, get AMD and better yet wait for the new M2 Mobos, they would rock!!!
