Right Guys, I'm getting a new comp in 1 month, and I could use some advice into upgrades, or different specs etc...

This is currently $1650 Aus, and I dont want to much more than this $1800 MAX.
How much more would a Dual Core Cost?

So, what upgrades can You suggest?

AMD 3500+
Asus MB
1 gig ram 160 Sata HD
256MB X800GT
VC 17" Monitor(LCD)
DVD burner
speaker, keyboard, mouse

Thanks

Jestar

well if im right the x800 pro is better then the GT.  if u get the x800 pro with aftermarket cooling, you can easily OC it.  i got mine to run at 580/540.  Did some mod i forgot to unlock the other pipes.

Lucky bastard. I was going to get a new computer early last year - didn't happen. I should be thankful though, no doubt the technology would be outdated by now.

2 gig mem, preferably Mushkin. What PSU you getting? and like cyborg ninja said go with nvidia. Dual Core = $500 for a 3800+ manchester core, or $630 for a 4200+ with your current CPU only being $310 or so you wont get a decent dual core without taking your system over 1800, plus you have to remember your going to go 2 gig of RAM and a decent set of 2 x 1G sticks will set you back about $300.

2gigs of ram is good, buy some heat spreaders for them, they only cost $8, and get low lantecy ones

Outdated? My machine is two months shy of being four years old. P4 with 512MB RAM and a Radeon 9700 Pro. Runs like a dog being dragged behind a hummvee. I've got everything set to low or off, and it still disk thrashes when I'm about to fire a shot.

By the way... I read that heat spreaders don't actually help RAM chips, so save your money.
