I heard somewhere that the socket 939 type proccesers and motherborads are going to be discontinued soon. Is this true?

754 Is almost dead, but 939 right now is going good, i cant see AMD discontining them yet

No. Socket AM2 is around the corner, but s939 will still go strong. You may have heard AMD is discontinuing s939 Opterons . . . but that's not entirely true either.

Once AMD adopts the use of DDR2, they will be switching to a new socket.  From what I've read the FX-60 is the last socket 939 chip.
