I have Flight Simulator X. I really loved to play it on XP, but now with Vista Ultimate it isn't working. I have the 32-bit version of Vista ultimate. My Flight Simulator worked nicely with XP, but now it is not working with Vista and in the case reads that it will work with it. Let me explain:

The menu works perfectly,no problems with that. Settings are so that they should work with my computer(this can still be the problem). Resolution is set correctly. Then when I take a flight when it loads it starts to flash, the loading thing disappears and then it comes up again couple seconds later. Then if it manages to load the flight(if manages), it shows only few colours like black, white and yellow, then it starts to do this pattern:

It shows this tricolour display for 2 seconds then black screen for 2 seconds and so on, it might show the loaded 100% loaded sometimes. This pattern continues endlessly. Now I managed to mess it up so that when I click that "fly" button, it goes to black screen and I have to exit with CTRL+ALT+Delete method. Please help me!!!

Here is my specs anyway, but they are compatible:
AMD Athlon 64 3700+
2GB RAM
X850XT
Soundblaster Audigy2 ZS(with beta drivers)

I'm not running that program as an administrator, cause I couldn't find the place to set it to run as an admin.

I'm trying to answer to your questions as best as I can. I really want to play my FSX so help me!

No. Flight Simulator X is a DX9 title. What is going on is most likely due to faulty drivers. Download some new ones.

Whatever happened to it being patched up to DX10?

I don't have FSX, so I wasn't even aware of a DX10 conversion. Still, he didn't specify if he patched or not. I answered based on my experience with Vista.

IMO, don't bother gaming on Vista (any) yet. Dual-boot Vista/XP Pro if you must, but don't even bother with Vista for games. Microsoft really bungled the timing on this one, delaying several times before releasing to manufacturers, and then when they do RTM they shove it out the door far too quick for anyone to get complex drivers out. As if the delays were bad enough, now we have a rushed, half-baked OS with lots of DRM and eye candy. Joy.

Gaming on Vista is fine. I have fewer problems gaming in Vista than in XP, although stuff often needs tweaking a bit.

What patch are you talking about? I don't have that DX10 patch, cause my GPU is DX9, could that be the problem?

Don't worry, it's not out yet. It's not due out till after SP1 and you couldn't run it anyway if you only have a DX9 GPU.

Gaming on Vista may be fine, but the damn thing has other problems that make me hesitatant to upgrade. Until I'm forced to do so for better visual quality in gaming, I'll still be an XP man. Microsoft probably won't lower their price any, but still.

I'll help you in a few days. I'm running Vista Ultimate on 32-Bit! I had FSX for XP and loved it, so I'll install it soon and give you an update.

There are always problems with new MS OSs and usually they sort themselves out, to a certain extent. XP is better than its predecessors just as all the others have been. The same will be true of Vista. Just wait a while. Once decent drivers and possibly the first service pack are out then it'll be all good.

Negative. It was my opinion that 3.11 was better than 95.

Vista will be acquired when security and support have a chance to mature, and hopefully when people find a way to disable most of its user-restrictive "features."

I am going to wait on Vista.  I love FSX too much for it to be taken away from me.

I would really appreciate it if you would help me. PM me if necessary. Tomorrow I am going to spam Microsoft support phones.

That was my (wrong) opinion at the time too. I have since realised I was extremely wrong.
