They do get musketeers. Guns werent invented at the point the game starts, you have to wait like 75 years.
Im not sure about the S.America thing, havent ever got that far into a game, im guessing its atleast 200 turns in.
Not sure, i have a pirate version, i plan to buy it soon though for online play.
Yes I think so, although it would be very hard, much easier just to jihad Rome.
Certain areas produce some unique units, otherwise no.

1. Because that's what the developpers decided
2. You need to build the top teir ships to sail to America, once you can build those have fun with the Aztecs.
3. Yes but they are used by other nations. It list all units of the five initial playable nations
4. You can assassinate the pope as any faction, but he has high security and even if the assassin was full on subterfuge he would not likely be able to do it.
5. Sort of. You can bribe enemy units to your side but only shared units will join. for instance if I was playing as France and I bribed an Imperial army I would get Feudal knights but not Zweihanders as France can make Feudal knights but not zweihanders.

Just a question, how does this game stand next to Rome: Total War? The Rome: Total Realism mod kicked ass for me, and I'm currently downloading this one... Yes, I'm a bad person.
