So now that this totally kick ass game is out. I think its idea to have a thread where people can post their most amazing battles/screenshots/tips or ask for help from other players.

Ill also keep a list of GPGNet names (not forum names) and global locations then people can play together which always helps when playing with someone again and again.

GPGnet names:

Ahh...nothing like dozens of commanders carving out missile subs.

Yeah im on the UEF mission now, it fucking kicks ass, got 4 of the exp subs, 1 fat boy 3 massive cannons and am nuking shit. Although i did just lose before i closed the game down, when you beat the 2nd obj you get attacked right near your base by shit loads of spider bots.

omg the last mission for UEF is unbelieavable, every1 is sending 1 million units at me and i only have like 50 assualt bots , ive lost my whole airforce (10 units left) and half my navy is seperated from each other lol, the black sun is 60% complete.

anyone know where screenhots are kept?

damnit amazon said they can't deliver it until april the 5th despite me having a pre-order in for a month :-\
oh well still got the demo, who else thinks that in terms of what you get with demos they got it pretty good with the supreme commander demo, you know enough of the game that you can have fun and get into the game but they left out enough that you want to go and buy it for the rest of it?

I played this game today for the first time.. and I love it. It takes some getting used to, what with the small viewing screen and all. Also, a lot less actual tactics than I had expected. It's really just massing three million units together and attacking en masse.

In other parts of the world it was released last week. In the U.S. it's to be released Feb. 20th.

I would just like to point out that if you find this game hard, its coz ur a noob.

Building a monkeylord takes me 5 minutes not the 25 it states... its called using more than one engineer to build it...

The tactics in this game are complex due to the different combinations of units. Massing will get you no where against a good player other than having your base smashed to bits.

I'm talking about the single-player campaign.

Try it on hard. It is much more enjoyable. It requires some skill, a straight attack on an enemies base will not work. I mean i need like 30 large ships to destroy the enemy naval yard last night, like 20 destroyers and 10 cruisers. The naval base only hard 4 torpedoes. But the whole skis were patrolled by atleast 70 planes and they had mass anti air.

Well C&C was amazing and still is, but RA, Generals and the newer C&C Tiberian ones arent actually that good or original. I would say its more entertaining, you just need to give it a while to get good at it. It isnt like the holding your hand type game. Its why there are so many moaners about it, basically they havent learnt to play it and just blame the game.

Great game, right up there with COH as far as rts games goes.

Only problem is the AI...it SUCKS even on the highest difficulty setting.
It doesn't make enough use of air transports and instead tries to get in through the front door repeatedly where you've spammed a million heavy shield generators and turrents. 20 minutes in you counterattack and wipe them out.

Multiplayer ftw

Put the AI on different settings for hard. Changes the way they play.

It's still poor. If you ask me the AI in the Beta worked better.

It's soooooo easy against the computer, multiplayer is the only way to have any real fun.
Horde is easy, tech is easy and supreme is easy. All too easy.

I'd say it's a bit unbalanced too, the UEF are awesome - Strategic Artillery is just too devastating on big maps (even if it does take forever to build, it's ok with a dozen or so SCUs on it).

I agree, but in all honesty i kick the computers ass on hard no matter what i play. Its never the same level as a human player. I easily beat extreme mode on CoH...

Retail at a Glance
*from an hour of play

Disclaimer: Every single reviewer has already fawned all over this game, so I figure that I'll throw out some of the disadvantages, and save me from typing a 10-page report on what's so awesome.

System:

ASUS A8V Deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
2(2x 512MB) DDR400 @ CAS2-3-2-5-2T (2GB total, Corsair + OCZ)
BFG Tech GeForce 6800 Ultra OC
CL Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
2x WD74GB Raptor (RAID0)
Windows XP Pro

1. Audio: 'Command & Conquer: Generals' has 10 music pieces (11 with Zero Hour; discounting in-game cinematic bits, victory and loss) per faction, each lasting ~3-7 minutes. You get a different feel depending on which army you play. Not so for 'Supreme Commander.' No, it just doesn't have enough music. For the scope of such a game, I'd have expected a ton of music to keep me through hour long maps. Instead, I feel like I'm listening to a broken record after 30 minutes.

2. Graphics & World: In the age of deformable terrain, interactively-collapsible buildings, units with tons of weapons, armor and specialization upgrades, customizable colors and logos and cities that look somewhat active and alive, I've so far seen none of this in 'Supreme Commander.' Perhaps it'll be addressed in an expansion, and perhaps they'll get a PhysX license to deal with fleets sitting next to underwater nukes.

And as weak as the commander is, it would be nice if he had more upgrades (legs, head). Hmm...this engine would be a great base for BattleTech.

3. Control & Interface: Unless I haven't found it, there's no way to tell units what sort of unit to prefer to target. It's done so automatically, but manual control would be more efficient. Telling units to automatically repair/refuel at a certain time, or for how long to continue a patrol path would also be appreciated. I mean come on, guys, your videos told us that you were giving us all the controls a RTS nerd would ever use.

The squad icons also fill up way too much space. I wish there was a way to shrink them down.

4. Technical: Though it isn't an issue with the game itself, system requirements are way too steep if you wish to use a ton of units on large maps. Most of my strategy friends have trouble enough running Dawn of War without being asked to graduate to this chopfest. Therefore, I'm going to have a bit of a wait before I'll get to play this with my confederates. I'm able to run smaller maps just fine on medium-high detail, but I fear for the playability of (undoubtedly monstrous) maps later in the campaign. It isn't the visual detail so much (as huge maps will lag equally at absolute bottom detail) as it's my CPU attempting to keep up with all the pathing and AI.

5. Customization: The game was not shipped with an editor (but then again, few ever are). I have yet to check online for one, so I can't exactly waggle a finger at GPG yet.

1. I agree, but then again if you actually are playing properly it should be using all your focus and you wont even care about the music.

2. Graphics arent great and the buildings are ramable etc, if they were you would need an even more powerful computer. All of the bullets in this game are calculated real time... that uses alot of power.

3. This already has far more commands than anyother RTS out there, you cant expect them to add everything ever, otherwise what would RTS games evolve to? The interface is too large.

4. See 2.

5. This is the next game from Chris Talyor... he made the most customised RTS ever. There is an editor for this and it can be dled. People already made maps in the beta..
