In a word - dont. Raptors are probably the worst possible drives you can have in a server. Yes, they are excellent on the desktop but they are just not reliable enough for a server and, let be honest, if you are choking a server's drive bus then you don't have enough memory.chuyskywalker wrote:

If I has loose with your server (and I work with the same kind of servers for a living) I would:
1, Replace both Raptors with something bigger and more reilable.
2, Mirror both internmal drives.
3, Create a RAM disk for the MySQL data (if its really causing a massive IO hit) and modify the startup script to recreate the RAM disk and copy the data files to it from disk backup (so its starts seamlessly when the server does).
4, Subscribe to an "over the Internet" backup service or use rsync to make sure the data is saved off the server.
5, Find the guy who recommended putting Raptors in the server and make 'em pay
6, Ditch Linux and use something much more reliable such as Solaris 10 for x86.
