Gabriel Knight represented one of the few adventure-based games I was able to stomach. Throughout the three titles, you get to fight voodoo, werewolves and vampires in real areas located in Louisiana, Germany and France. The first game was sprite-based, the second photo/video-based (taking six bloody CD's) and the third 3D. Last I checked into the titles, there were rumors of a fourth, [edit]though the Wikipedia article on the matter informs me that it's Grey Matter instead.[/edit]

Anybody remember these?

Oh yeah, I remember them, I still have Sins of the Father and The Beast Within laying around somewhere. Those were great games at the time.

I think that was in Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned, which I have not had the fortune of playing. It was released in the fall of 1999, Dan Browns book was released in 2003. So maybe he got the idea for his book from the game

I'll trade ya the beast within for the last one. According to wikipedia there is a site with patches to make the older two run under xp.

I will have to check around and see if I can get a copy of the third one. The biggest problem would be the pure lack of PC game trade stores in my area. Plenty of trade stores for console games though.

As Sierra has removed all references to GK from their site, I'm sure that GK 1/2 fully qualify as abandonware. I've been able to find 3 for sale a few months ago, but I haven't checked recently. To 'slinger: the second was my favorite. #1 was good, but didn't last as long.

Can't believe i never saw this thread.  The first 2 GK games were amongst my favorites point and clicks.  The 2nd was definitely the best.

3rd was ok i guess but by then i was moving away from point and click games and didn't have the level of patience I used to have.

I played GK I to death, loved it heaps, got GK III and dumped it after a few hours because it was so boring. I would snap up GK II if I saw it, maybe I'll find it on a torrent site somewhere...

Amazing. A 2-pack is sold for $64-$199. But here's Beast Within alone for $13:

There's 13 available, for everyone here who's been wanting a copy. Remember to back it up when you get it.
