- [Rainbow Six Vegas] Think The In Game Ads Are Bad In 2142?
I honestly can't say I've even noticed any, maybe I just haven't slowed down enough to see them
i really don't see why people care so much. If you had a company wouldn't you want advertisement. You don't even have to look, if you don't want to see these "gay" ads just don't look at them.
it was a joke dick<<<FTDM>>>Gen.Raven wrote:

It doesn't bother me at all, if anything I think it adds realism, we see adds in RL so why not in a game. I've had some people say that they haven't picked up 2142 because of the adds... those people are just missing out is all I have to say. RSV is a kick ass game as well, and on that note ironically I read an article in the local paper today about RSV and this very topic.
Well, it ads to realism in Rainbow Six becuase it's set in this era. So it's ok to see McDonalds and shit or whatever. In 2142, it's set in 2142. Bit stupid to see fucking 21st Century items in a 22nd Century game. It would've looked good in Bf2 though.
There were a few of those in Chaos Theory too... Must be a Usisoft thing lol.InfectiousShadow wrote:

What I don't get about 2142 is why the heck would they be advertising Core 2 Duos on a billboard ~150 years from now?
cuz C2D gonna last for at least 150yrs right?unnamednewbie13 wrote:

stop moaning you retards if they don't put those adds there they'll just make up fake ones, so wud u rather look at AXE or some random made up shit which they don't get paid for
It's a good game.
I'm stuck on that Nevada Dam level, the bit were you have to open the water gates.
That guy who is on the computers always ends up getting shot.
If i could just hack the computer myself i'd have no need for my little 2 guys following me around, then i'd win the game because i only have to look after myself.
Don't think you should fail for teamates dying.

Yeah. Who's going to need more than 2.6GHz and 2GB RAM? Not bloody likely...[déjà vu]rabee2789b wrote:

Ads in that game make sense, since they're for products that exist in said timeframe. However, I prefer ads for faux products. It shows more creativity.obstacle02 wrote:

However, if I was an art director for a sci-fi title, I wouldn't mind sticking in ads for real products, as long as they're likely to still exist at the time. Bits of modification allowed...

It Economics dick. If a company want me to pay full price for a game, it is traditionally because they need to
A. Recoup expenses on said game, i.e. pay for programmers, marketing, so on.
B. They want to make a profit!
Now, if they want to change that scheme for charging me the same price when they are clearly MAKING MONEY off of my eyeballs BEYOND recouping their initial investment, why the FUCK do I still have to pay full price for the product? Maybe if there was no concept of ad supported cost deflection(?) i.e. youTube. You see ads and its free. So if I have to endure advertising in a game, why don't I see any benefit to me. From my perspective it just looks like I paid to a money grubbing whore to sell me more shit? Sorry...I play games to escape, not see what on sale @ walmart. Now the bug issue I can only take aim @ EA, and thats only in BF2. But there were plenty and they were fixed randomly. I only played the Beta of 2142 to decide it was a mod, not a new game. So there goes any possible customer loyalty. I don't have this problem with other games...for some reason other people focus on a good game. Now I know EA is a business, no shit. But don't expect me to bend over and take it from said business, its not how you retain customers. IMO there is no simple solution to ads in games, but my frackin opinion wont change....
As far as your comment about don't look...I wont look after you learn econ. Deal?
and because they are assholes...i've had 2 friends buy me separate copies of 2142 just to piss me off.
