why not get your self 7800GTX, then in future if you want to upgrade just buy another 7800gtx when its price drops down
yeah id get 1 7800gtx it will run every current game at full everything at the moment, then later when games start getting moe hard core and 7800gtxs will be cheaper you can grab another

shouldnt the 256mb 7800gtx be 10-50% faster not just 1 to 5? coz if the 512mb 7800gtx is 80% faster... and its only double the ram... doesnt it mean its only 2-10%?

the clock speeds are jacked up further too

i mean 512 mb of ram on the card doesnt really boost FPS. But if u want to play games that support the 512mb on ultra quality then get the 7800gtx 512. and lets say u have the 512 card and u have a 2.8 ghz p4 cpu. You will sometimes lag in gfx intense games. SOMETIMES
