how do you take a picture of your windows desktop?
Alt+F4 or something along those lines.

Try this. It's called MWSnap and good for taking snapshots of pretty much anything on display on your screen (not games though)

It's different for different comps though. It might be Alt+Print Screen, it might be Function+Printscreen, of it might just be PrintScreen period. I have experienced computers with all three of those.
