" Don't call for a mutiny because the commander can actaully fly a chopper or jet and still do his job.
I can do it just fine and since im a vet in a chopper i can hover and do all the commanding i need to... your a fool to not think it can be done.

      Horseman 77       says

"No one can Command ( backup your teamates at all costs... your own words )and fly a chopper."

This guy says he can fly a Jet simultaneously too!.

To much happens you have to spot scans, watch map, look for new developments.

To hover the Chopper is fine at times "maybe while your gunner rakes a spawn while a squad takes it"

But its to dynamic you cant depend on little coffee breaks to be schedualed at the moments you need them.

And Fly a jet?    In The End This is selfish Give up one.

Oh great masses! be heard !

What are your thoughts, Even if the Teams /Squads suck. They could be new and learning, there could be one or two guys in team who want to do it right.

I think this might be the Guy You see droping Supply Crates in deep water or Roof tops.
Ever wonder why that UAV dosn't ever deploy?

I am a decent commander, I try to get UAV's, Supplies and scans constantly going. I will watch over a squad trying to cap a flag and call out enemies, alert them to arty drops, etc...

As far as flying, I am okay with a Jet, but the Attack Helo's, I hate em. And you can't learn, because everyone wants to fly them, even rook pilots wo crash after 15 seconds. Let em rephrase that, I can fly them just fine, but hitting anything I fire at is a different story.

I can command and fly at the same time.  The only thing that proves a bit difficult is aiming arty strikes while flying.

I think it's OK if the commander commands and flies a Helicopter, but not if he is flying a jet.

I'm not a very good commander W/L wise (maybe it's because I get stuck with shitty teams...) but I sure as hell know to stay out of flying vehicles when commanding.  It's ridiculous to even attempt to do that if you want to actually command.

As soon as I see a commander running for a jet or attack chopper, I initiate a mutiny.  Commanding in the Blackhawk is different, though.  I've helped a commander do that on Wake (we were both on Teamspeak).  If you fly him far enough out, no one will bother either one of us.

Anytime I see a commander flying I start typing in comments like "Command or Fly, you can't do both". I type these so all team members (and opposition) can see it. If he continues I'll call for a mutiny.

On the subject of mutinies (and kicking) I think it's important to warn them via comments to all so the other players know what and why the're voting. When I see a kick vote and I have no idea what it's about, it's an immediate NO.

I've yet to see a commander play and command at the same time and do it well.  There was a USMC commander yesterday in Karkand that stayed at his home base and hid in the tank.  We were getting beat up pretty good because we had no armor to take on the MEC armor.  After asking the kid to either resign command or to release the tank he continued to say no.  I persuaded him leave the armor with a little C4 and we went on to take all the flags and drive MEC back to existance challenged status!

I'd only try being Commander and flying if I notice that we're quite far into the round and no one cares to be commander.  heck I'll use the UAV for my own good.

i also voted no since its not possible to command effectively in an air vehicle except as passenger. but even as a gunner in an attack chopper is only minimum efficency.

anyway its possible to do a decent job in a vehicle but only for short times. when i see that my team is dominating and i have an idle vehicle at my base i use it and help in the field but when i die i go back to hiding also to make up for the boredom of commanding since i need some action from time to time.
sometimes i even bring the tank to the front lines and give it to someone else wich mostly meets disbelieving from a lot of players

If your the co-pilot yes, just tell the pilot when your going into the commander screen.  Otherwise, no.

In my opinion commanders should not try to do their job and fly at the same time.

1. When you fly you can't command as well as normally. You should try to spot all enemies after a scan while flying.

2. You blockade the helo, jet and even the tank. It's better when your mates use them because they can better concentrate at using them.

3. You get no points for kills or flag captures... as commander. So when you blockade such a vehicle your team gets less points, ergo your score is less too.

Bollocks a good cammander is on the ground as an Engineer so he can repair stuff when needed (this saves the supplys for the team), anything else is bull. You may think that you are doing a good job in a heli or jet but there is so much that you miss. Thers no way that someone can fly, zoom in place Arri and supplys exactly on target as needed i have tried no way. Either you miss targets flying or you miss what the guys need. I am not to bad a commander i think global rank 2500 i think. But as allways there are the better doers.

despite my long playing hours, i have never commanded, not even for a second, but here are my thoughts.

commander in a;

1. passenger in a BH........OK
2. passneger in a APC......OK
3. gunner in a tank..........OK, but you are asking to be shot
4. pilot in a plane or BH....Possible but then you are not giving 100% to your team
    a. if your team is winning by a huge margin then i guess its ok to fight and command
    b. if your team is marginally winning or losing; best to command and try to turn the situation around

Opinions are like assholes - everyone has one.

Hovering for a few seconds to get someone supplies or drop arty or start a UAV don't take very long.  Commanders should not camp and stare at the commander screen.  I feel I win most games I command because I am active whether it be in the air or on the ground.  If the commander has taken a role to battle along side his troops he helps his team by being an extra attacker especially if the opposing commander is doing the CAMP thing like most narrow minded less skillful people think he should do.  I do the same thing in a Tank or APC that I can in a jet or a chopper.  To say it shouldn't be done means A.  you don't have the skill to do it yourself  or B.  you can't imagine someone else having the ability to multi-task.   Scans arent as importnt as the later simply because most the time i spot for my team they just dont watch their radar/mini-map at all.
Which also explains why certain people will drive or walk into arty strikes on a regular basis.  Same as when you direct squads and they just don't defend or go attack things when you call them out and they are literally right next to them.  Most times you play on a server you got prolly %30 noobs %50 vets or clans doing their thing and %20 people doing their own thing to get badges and ribbons not caring about the game outcome anyway.  So with maybe half the people on your team actually being commandable to begin with you can over look certain areas of commanding.  It doesnt take long to notice when you get a good squad following orders and I love nothing better than to spot it up for them with scans and UAVs.

My point is - It is not selfish to be a commander and utilize vehicles.  I am great in a chopper and decent in a jet.  I get commander whenever i want it usually since my rnak is so high.  By no means am I gonna camp and rely on my team with maybe half of them worth commanding.  i have learned to take an active role as a commander and that leads to more victory's HANDS DOWN.

Heres your sign.

this guy cannot multi-task, an immediate mutiny on a commander for using an attack chopper or jet is asanine.  Again I cannot stress this enough - Some poeple can multi-task pretty darn good, just becasue you can't doesnt mean someone else can't.

an instant mutiny for a commander running to a jet or chopper lets me know that you are ignorant and have less brain cells than the average person, maybe mildly retarded if you will.  Only reason to call a mutiny is if the commander ISNT doing his job.  Let the guy do it for 10 mins and see how it goes then if no UAVs, suplies, or arty and scan get dropped then mutiny.  i bet this guy insta-punishes too.

You can be commander and fly chopper at the same time, but you can't be good or even satisfying commander while flying. Using UAV, arty and suplys isn't all that commander is doing. Commander should also spot enemys outside of UAV area and near own guys and if VOIP is activated then commander should use also it to tell exactly what's happening on battlefield.  So if you are flying then don't be commander or if you are commanding then don't fly. And what's even point to be commander at the same time as flying? Pilot/gunner will earn much more points than commander (if he/she is any good pilot/gunner, and if not, then he/she should't fly/be gunner).

Truth is you have seen people do it and not do it well.  i am here to say I DO THIS WELL and will continue to do it because since i started I win prolly 80% of the games I command(i wish the stats kept track of this i would like to know the real number).  All I have to say is come play a game with me and see for yourself.  i know most of you can't fathom this idea because others have done so terrible at it.  JUST KNOW IT CAN BE DONE.

Umm. Maybe a commander is supposed to come up with a valid, solid strategy for the team to win? Not just be the UAV/Supply/Arty provider?

But I tend to agree with Grips on this. In public games you have the grand total of TWO squads to command that LOOSELY follow orders. So i'll fuck it, get in an F-15 and command from the skies.

I've yet to learn how to scan in a plane without having to wrestle control back later though. Any Ideas?

heh.... true but got the valorous ribbon after you left the server the other day (medic whored! 49 team point dammit! 1 short for the legion) so wouldn't mind taking up the challenge of commanding now.... just need a relatively safe place to do it from...... the backseat of your bomber seems fine.......heheh
