A Calvin & Hobbes quote. Nice.
I'm definatly not religeos. I heard of an interesting one. It's like this:

Okay, there is no hell, and no heaven. What happens is that at some random date in the future, everyone in the world, (dead and alive, dead people will jut pop out of the ground and be alive again,) gets to witness God coming down from the clouds I guess. Then, in an instant, he, like, clicks his fingers or something, and all those who didn't believe just *poof* vanish. the punishment is that in that split second when you witness "the glory of god," you know that it's really cool and all that, but you only get a split-second while believers get eternal glory or whatever.

Rough explination, but a freaky kind of religeon.

Some of my relatives are into the hard-core christianity which sucks. They give 10% of their household income to the church, go to church ever week, often more than once, and when it comes time to pass the collection plate, they give like $100 and over. It's one of those religeons where you raise your hands up as some guy screams at you.

Hmmm...
The real question is: Which religion(s) is right?  Which religion(s) are wrong?
That varies from person to person, their opinion, I don't really care...  What pushes my envelope is when people try to push their religion on others....
They go, "My way is right, your way is wrong, come over here or your f*ck*d..."
Ignorance is said to be bliss, but once your ignorance is placed upon another, to say that their wrong and no other way, your f*ck*d, not them, "currently"...

Yes, I believe man should respect ALL of its beliefs..
Nothing's worse when you perturb someone about their beliefs, since that's what instigates war, which devestates people, even those not involved...

Now, if someone is on the path of good, by choice, they are the best...
Instigating "goodness" becuase of a fear for damnation or a love of going to heaven is ok, but people should be good becuase they want to, not becuase a god will smite thy if thou is to follow a path of evil, and must be punished indefenitely...

Amen (no pun intended).

Personally, I'm Roman Catholic, but I accept people of all beliefs, and I don't judge people based on theirs.

Yes, He does, but really not in this context. =P

Christian. Plain jane Christian. A screwed-up person just like everybody else. I just happen to believe there is something greater than me out there (as tough as that may be to grasp... )

Not concerned with what you believe, I know where I am going. The universal question... prove God exists. I say, look around, and prove He doesn't. =P

I would guess that I fall into being agnostic.  I have put little to no thought into religion in my life and I have no desire to.  Which is strange because much of my extended family is very religious.  But I have a hard time believing in something that can't be scientifically proven.

I am tolerant and respectful of all peaceful beliefs however, as long as you keep your beliefs to yourself and do not try to push them onto me.  Back in college, I was probably confronted twice a day by annoying people trying to push booklets into my hands.

That actually is a great argument and the main reason why I say agnostic rather than atheist.  I cannot scientifically prove that God doesn't exist, but just the same, I would have to personally experience something to have my mind change.  No booklet ever will

Good point Jodah. Booklet's can't make you have faith. It's something every person finds (or doesn't) for themselves. Christians who are overly pushy with attempting to preach bother me too. I don't mind people wanting to spread the Word, but be respectful of people when you do it.

I think God is to be found on your own. I didn't come to faith because of my parents, or friends, or a preacher. I found God my own way, the right way.

This is taken from uncyclopedia, one of the best sites online after this one

“God is dead.”

    - Nietzsche on God

“Nietzsche is dead.”

    - God on Nietzsche

Anyway, I'm not sure of my faith at the moment, and I probably wont be until a time that I have been tested to the extreme by a given situation, however, I often do feel as if things are often all brought into one thing, and in the end it will all be the same.
To explain further, I feel that in the end, things will all come back to where they started, and for me, I do feel that there is a higher purpose for us in life.  What it maybe however, is for us to discover.
i'm not touchin this subject i'm aethiest. hate god , hate the thought of god, and i dont see any point of religion.

As a christian, I believe in Jesus.  How could he by chance fill over 400 (I think that is the number) prophecies (SP is bad)  Too many people associate christianity with a list of rules.  Christianity is about compassion and following Jesus' example.  Also, christianity is one of the few religions that does not ask for humans to work toward heaven...If you think you can manage to to get to heaven by your self, well you have a bigger ego than I do.  I respect your (i.e. Buddist, agnostic, atheist) opinoins, but strongly disagree.

(Read the New Testament, especially Romans)

I don't believe in god nor do i believe in an afterlife. I wanted to say " i know" , as a scientific, well-educated  person, but the replies to that will be endless.
But i believe in the good in us all and in the ideas of Jesus Christ (not as gods son, but as human being) to make THIS (that's important) world a better place for us all.
To the bible: it's just a book, written by and for men (persons), you can learn much from it as from most books but at last it's just a book.
it seems that some people whose life is dominated by thoughts about what is gods will and what's not never realized the above said.

Oh, and another dictum from an old-persian religion:

if god is good, he is not almighty and if he's almighty, he is not good.

well im an antheist myself, but there is a paradox for christians, how is god created?

but i do believe that jesus walked the earth, not as the son of god, but rather a person who has a good heart and wanted to help whomever he can

Here's a paradox for any religion. If your God is all-power and all-seeing etc, can he hide someone so well he can't find? Or create someone so powerful he can't defeat?

Therein lies the paradox of the absolutes.

Uh...how can your supposed paradoxes be the "absolutes"? The only valid antithesis (an-tih-thih-siss) of religious belief has already been posed by cyborg_ninja-117.

No, think of it, the very idea of Absolutes is a paradox in itself.

Uh...dude, you are fucking crazy. Your idea of "absolutes" isn't even really clear.

The feeling of a contact with divinity saves just as much as one would get calories from sniffing a McD burger..uhm..so, not quite.

One can kill and go to church/temple/mosque but it doesnt mean he is "saved" until he repents.

Absolutes loosely used as a term I guess.

Hmmm.

I feel quite compelled to post this.  This is an excerpt from a letter by the late Douglas Adams:

--
"There is such a thing as the burden of proof, and in the case of god, as in the case of the composition of the moon, this has shifted radically. God used to be the best explanation we’d got, and we’ve now got vastly better ones. God is no longer an explanation of anything, but has instead become something that would itself need an insurmountable amount of explaining."

A god explanation for life, the universe, etc. is not a logical or even a rational conclusion. It's just throwing up one's hands and giving up thinking.

--

I stand by his reasoning (I'm an Atheist).
