Free Speech - not everywhere these days (Political Correctness etc) remember it is very ILLEGAL in Germany (even a swastika stuck on a plane in flight sim) so please be considerate of other people.

however in my family's experience (coming from Koenigsberg) was - what Adolf didn't take - Joseph did. Lost everything, my Great Grandmother walked all the way to Hamburg in '45. Oh and the Nazi's did 2 good things - Autobahn & Volkswagen - the rest is shit.

Haven't had a chance to install POE2 yet, hope it is as good as Operation Flashpoint multi-player was (with re-spawn of course).

Nazi references aren't THAT big a deal in my opinion, but that's a topic for another thread...

K, POE 2 gave me a new reason to play BF2. I had a huge dry streak but when POE 2 came out i was all back. and now my dry streak is over.

Camping snipers are basically untouchable.  All the claymore fiends in BF2 vanilla whined for this, and they have it, and the only reason it's not intollerable is because you can't beat any kind of camper at all in POE2, period.
In fact, I had just that situation on Fallen yesterday. I went to outflank the sniper, and BAM, right in the Dome of Doom.

I like PoE2 for the same reasons I loved bf1942 and DC. It feels more like their spiritual successor than BF2 does. Don't get me wrong, I love BF2, but PoE2 has me.
Like I said before, mods add very much of replayability to the game. BF2 is meant to be modded! If there was no FH for BF42, I would have never considered buying BF2. And now, I play PoE2 exclusively. OPK tanks feel like a piece of soap gliding on ice, USI is nice, yeah, but it's still got that annoying commander toys of UAV and scan. PoE2 finally got rid of them and introduced some nice arty. So I am with you, zonk sayer. And everyone that praises PoE2. It is more tactical than vanilla. You have to do teamplay to win the map, rather than play rambo. And the different armies feel different, not like a blueprint used for every side. And, by the way, you want intense infight? Join a Frontline Mode server, and the fight will be intense like you never thought it could get. No long way to battle, everything is confined to small spaces, so, what is that Karkand thing everyone is talking about (whoring points on)?

My big problem with BF2 is that I really, really like infantry combat.  Karkand is great fun, as is sharqi, as is mashtuur, as are other IO small sizes.

In POE2, there are a few things that make infantry combat less interesting:

1) If you are hit from behind, you will be dead way before you can turn around.

This would be neither here nor there, except that I've been spoiled by BF2s random deviation, which actually makes infantry fighting A WHOLE LOT MORE INTERESTING.  Who would have thought?

2) The attacking team gets pwned in Fallen.

Seriously.  The way to win fallen is to split up your team between two flags, take those, and sit on them.  The defending team can't win by sitting around, but they get owned by moving towards your flags in anything but prone.

3) One hit weapons are ultra stupid.

One hit weapons are just not fun, unless the map is Unreal Tournament size, you move at Unreal Tournament speed, and you respawn in Unreal Tournament time.  Since this is still BF2, the anti-tank rockets and the one-hit-kill sniper kit are really, really, really not fun.

So, basically, in answer to the OPs question, if you like infantry combat, POE2 is really not for you.
I havent even PLAYED the game, but this is what pisses me right off about BF2. If you sneak up on a guy with any type of assault rifle, he should be dead 99.5% of the time. Screw if your aiming is a fraction off, if you can pump rounds in his back there should be no chance in hell of him bunny hop spamming/dive rolling/whatever retarded maneuvre he does to turn 180 and put one in your head. I love infantry style combat but I hate this about BF2, it makes me think I might give POE2 a shot when I get some time.

Also I think 1 hit weapons are realistic, but I can see how it might be stupid if people spam them. But if your running around a field like a noob, a single sniper bullet to the head should kill you. Who cares what gun. Or same deal with helmets, if you get shot IN THE FACE the helmet shouldnt be protecting you.

I think in general alot of the weapons in BF2 are too weak. 1 shot in the chest with a .50 cal should kill anyone.

I feel that its a great mod, I still prefer SF but I'm sure it will grow on me like SF did over vanilla , if it gets ranked then it will be like a double expansion for free! Of course that will lure many a smacktard as well.

this is a privately owned forum. Free speech doesn't apply here. Your rights in here go as far as the rules will allow, and no further. interpretations are up to the forum staff, obviously.

Some will let a little more slide, others are more restrictive. People are different, what can you do...

And I am not here to change history. BF1942 was a game, nothing more. Of course, people kept making nazi references back then, and I thought that was uncalled for, too. I have always believed that remarks like that are disrepectful towards those who suffered under the nazi regime.

I'd agree that there is some leeway, but whoever banned you obviously thought you'd crossed the line.

well, whatever, life goes on, no harm done.

Have you tried the INFANTRY ONLY servers? I think you will enjoy them quite a bit.

I believe this makes you more wary of all sides around you. Spinning around just to check your flanks and rear is a good thing. Paranoia is a good thing. Being shot in the back should kill you. I have no reason to think it takes away from my enjoyment. If anything it hightens my excitment and enjoyment.

2) The attacking team gets pwned in Fallen.

Seriously.  The way to win fallen is to split up your team between two flags, take those, and sit on them.  The defending team can't win by sitting around, but they get owned by moving towards your flags in anything but prone.
If you are attacking a flag straight on and using Caveman Karkand Hotel Tactics then I expect you to die and I applaud that you die. I hope you die more often. Frankly running straight into a flag is idiotic. Will you die alot regardless of what you do? Yes. But in Fallen you expect the casulties. As Squad Leader I attack flags all the time. More often than not we take those flags. So you must have either very bad luck or shitty squad leaders.

They are not one hit weapons. They seem like that to you but they aren't. I can get hit and immediately go prone and still have health. I can get hit while moving and still turn and take out the person shooting at me with a fast well placed zoom shot to the neck head area. The only one shot kill is the pick up .50 cal sniper rifle and a deadon shot from an Anti-Personel rocket (AT Kit on that Map).

So, basically, in answer to the OPs question, if you like infantry combat, POE2 is really not for you.
If you like EASY infantry combat POE2 is not for you. If you want to meet the bar and not have the bar of difficulty lowered to your easier standards then POE2 is MADE for you. It's a challenge and I want people who are going to give me a challenge. If you don't want to bring me your A game, if you don't want to contribute to intelligent squad tactics, if you don't want to be a team player, then stay on BF2 because that is more suited for you.

Yes, one of my problems with Bf2 gameplay was that defensive play was pointless. If you sit on a flag, you lose every other flag then get pounded into submission because you don't gain any advantage from defending. In Bf2 no one ever defends or retreats, just charges in. PoE2 makes defense, stealth, flanking and good communication much more valuable.

Typical radio chatter on Karkand in a winning squad:
"Bullshit!"
"I got him"
"Hahaha pwned"
"Squad going down the side"
"We lost back flag, lets go there"

Typical radio chatter on Fallen in a winning squad
"Ok, spread to prevent them getting past and dont move too quickly"
"Lay down some heavy covering fire so I can flank them"
"Split up between the two flags - they must be heading to one of them - and report contact"

My take on it:
If you want infantry combat, sure, bf2.
If you want TEAM infantry combat, PoE is unsurpassed. I've experienced better cooperation between players not even in the same squad as me than I have in bf2 with squadmembers.
