this meeting between trump/vance and zelensky is a car crash of world-historical badness. one of the worst diplomatic exchanges i have ever seen.
what the trump admin were hoping to achieve by cutting zelensky out of the earliest negotiations and presenting him with a shakedown for half his country’s mineral wealth, i don’t know.
it honestly seems like they’re talking to him and expecting him to beg and kiss their feet. a really revolting spectacle.

I don't know what else you want me to do. I knocked on doors, phone banked, donated my time and money. I got involved with advocacy groups. I can show you dozens of photos of me at political events working.

deserves a strong highlight, i think. correlation!=causation, yada yada, but this is a fairly common factor in a lot of my conversations with the trump side fresh from recent months, and "i don't have the time/patience" would lead into justification of the trump vote (see also: "i didn't vote for harris because i didn't agree with or understand harris." "did you listen to her speeches?" "no." "did you even listen to trump's speeches? how did you understand anything he was saying?" "i didn't listen to those, either").uziq wrote:

all this didn't just generate out of nowhere. we've had decades of building oppositional defiance. i don't particularly enjoy the idea of red states suffering because of trump. but that the non trumpers of america and the world get to suffer because of it is more regrettable?
