My buddy is still running my original bf2 computer:

My PC is feeling the years a bit but it has proved itself on more than one occasion to be up to the task of some of the more hardware intensive stuff. BF3 may pose a challenge but I think it can pull through. Tell you what, my Gigabyte 9800GTX+ has certainly proved it's worth over the years.

They say that if you can run BC2 well, you can run BF3.
My 6800 Ultra was well capable of playing new games along the same time frame. It just sucked at it after awhile.
