If China became a superpower, we'd all be fucked.
If Chinese people lived the same way most of the western world lives, the planet would not be able to cope with waste/polloution, accomodation, and the need for resources. In fact we'd need exactly two more planets to sustain ourselves, (also since the Chinese don't care much for the environment, polloution would be a big issue.)

A Chinese superpower, I doubt it. It is an industrial power, and will remain that way, (at least I hope it does.)

China would not be able to survive within its own borders.  Their population density to farming area is not enough to support themselves.  Once millions of them die they could then support themselves.  The US could also support themselves just the same.  Our country holds almost every naturaly resource i can think of. Including mass oil deposits in Alaska.  We have diamonds, gold, silver, oil, natural gas, farming land out the ass, coal, lots of wildlife, iron, aluminum, bauxite, the list keeps going.  We could support our current population as is.  We would however have a reduction in standard of living to do this.  Ex. Less cars per household, not as many luxuries, etc.  But we could easily support ourselves within our borders.  We would definately lose world power though from doing so. As would china if they tried to be an Isolationist country.

The U.S. dollar's value is decreasing, but I imagine it will result in the circulation of currency like after World War I, when the U.S. sent money through Germany to the Allies back to themselves.  The world's economies depend too much on one another to just let one die.

P.S.  Albania is seriously f*cked if our economy dies.... not to say they're not already f*cked up as it is

Elaborate: No goods. All the big companies who make goods go under.

No food. A huge amount of the world's food is produced in the Midwest.

In short. Comparing this to the Dark Ages is no where near strong enough as an analogy of what would happen.

Dogs have four legs, and are sometimes brown
Therefore, dogs are tables.
Or not.

Still it would be fun to watch China try and Help out at Tsunamis and earth quakes and stuff.

Personally I doubt they'd give a shit. Maybe if we weren't a super power we wouldn't  be responsible for all these " Has been / fuck up " countries  we are always rescuing, that'd be cool.

By the way I am the 1st male in my Family who wasn't a paratrooper since the Creation of Airborne units in the USA.

Yes....New Zealand's food supply is fucked if the US goes to hell...good one mate, I needed a laugh!  New Zealand is a nation built on farming.  Have a look at these figures:

http://www.investmentnz.govt.nz/section/14341.aspx

Food is listed nowhere in the "Imports Top 15 Commodities" table, yet food exports in the "Exports - Top 15 Commodities" table account for $NZ3383 million out of a total $NZ13088 million, about one quarter...and the imports figure is for all countries, most of our food imports are luxury items anyway, and certainly nothing we can't do without.

The food export figure is the total of Fruit + Fish, crustaceans and molluscs + Beverages, spirits and vinegar + Miscellaneous edible preperations.  I did not include any portion of the Casein and caseinates figure, as that export has uses besides food.

You are right about the amount of available fertile land; the US certainly has more, but if anything a collapse in the US will result in NZ having MORE food, as we'd presumably lose a portion of our food export market.  Of course, I can't speak for any other country, but I believe I know enough about Australia to say that they also wouldn't be fucked for food if the US shat its pants...theres more to Australia than deserts

yes it will, but it would be a dusty one... all the dust just blocks sunlight and half the world will die of radiation, ok everyone will die (if theres a few survivors) then the survivors will freeze to death, so will the cocroches and ants...
