I know GoPro made a bit of a splash as a zoom cam last year.

Anyway, I'd look for color correction, reliable frames, and a decent sounding mic if you don't already have one (make sure you have that set up correctly and the way you like before going into a meeting). Also look for where you want to mount it and make sure it's able.

I went with the logitech 920. I mean "Logi" since changing the name of your famous brand is very smart. I trust that brand and can't think of any instances where it let me down.

I just got the mechanical keyboard I ordered at the same time. I got the extra loud option.

It is a shame Uzique isn't here to see I finally upgraded. RIP Uzique. Gone but not forgotten.

There is probably some marketing rule about not having the word 'tech' in your name if you are a tech manufacturer. I remember for a time they went full "logi" but now seem to use their full name on a lot of boxes, labels, etc. Logitech has/had a good reputation. It's a shame some marketing people convinced them to rebrand.

G600 is a solid MMO mouse if you like lots of input functionality. Strictly a matter of taste for me (if you don't need the inputs, avoid; simple as that). I even have a couple backups in my computer closet I picked up when the thing was on sale. I wish I'd done the same with a few of the older mice I had that I really enjoyed using. Old, and definitely not a cutting-edge FPS mouse (better options even when it was new). Not the one I use day-to-day.

Razer would be much more tempting if not for the software.

I've seen the HyperX headsets recommended a lot, in articles and by internet friends. Mics sounded OK on discord, but I've never heard the speakers for myself. I have a Shure desktop mic and closed beyers for my own usual setup. Hit up uzique for suggestions, that's like his bread and butter hobby.

I use sub-$20 keyboards from places like Office Depot most of the time. Hit up a decent electronics store and test the feel of the ones on display. Could recommend based on specs, but that won't help if you don't like the feel or volume.

Here's a Havit that barely dips its toe into into the "aesthetic." Thin, light, basic layout, Kailh switches. Lights have toggle functions so I assume you can turn them off. May be worth on sale.

Never tried the brand so no grounded recommendation. If the Zowie Celeritas II was actually available (no idea what's going on there) anywhere it would be a cool choice if you got the mouse. Matching (and slightly less obnoxious) logo as a bonus.

Pretty sure you can also shut off the lights with the logitech software.

Corsair really showed restraint with their headsets. Even the "gaming" models don't make you look like a Megatron cosplay.

About the point I'm spending $70+ on a keyboard it would be something I'd pay attention to.

The volume wouldn't be my consideration so much as depression force and rebound and the feel between those two. With the data linked in mind, I would still want to test them out at a store if I could.

I've had considerably good luck with cheap keyboards and the plastic on this one will probably wear out faster than any of the functionality.

I wish they had a deal with Adobe for CS packages. CS6 gets the job done and I own it forever, but it's getting a bit long in the tooth.

Get ready for some more ridiculous codenames. These new chips are dubbed the Jade 2C-Die and the Jade 4C-Die. Bloomberg claims these chips will come in 20 and 40 core variations. The 20-core chip will also have 16 high-performance cores and four energy-efficient ones, an option for 64 core graphics. The 40-core version bumps things up to 32 high-performance cores, eight energy-efficient cores, and 128 core graphics.

If you thought we were done with new chips, we are not. The planned MacBook Air will have yet another chip, codenamed Staten, that’s basically a faster version of the M1. The Staten chip also bumps graphics cores up to nine or 10 and is expected to power the forthcoming 13-inch MacBook Pro.

There wasn’t much detail on the new iMac, other than it’s larger than the colorful 24-inch iMac Apple just launched at its Spring Loaded event. This tracks with previous rumors that said the new iMac would be “really big, bigger than the biggest one.” According to Bloomberg, Apple paused development on the big boy iMac months ago to better focus on the 24-inch model.

It was baffling, at least from a PC user’s perspective, that Apple stuck the M1 chip in each of its new devices this year. Well, it’s looking like that may have been a temporary strategy for the initial transition because if these rumors pan out, it looks like Apple is rolling out five new chips. It’s a lot to process.

I don't really understand what a PC user's perspective has to do with it, or why that's even a valid thought. How many different models of CPUs and GPUs, and frequencies, latencies, and sockets, pockets, slots, do we have to juggle for PC builds? Even buying pre-built can take a bit of research. "Mac is making things complicated!" Uh yeah, ok.

I don't (currently) have subscription AV stuff. Rather than have one suite running, I have a collection of various applications for different security purposes. For someone who doesn't know what they're doing with PCs, I'd probably recommend a suite.

A few years back I had a year of Kaspersky that was pretty good. I thought it was pretty funny that people were afraid of Russian software, yet they banked online using exploity browsers.
