This is just one big console war now. Thank you for this blessing.

Just get one and keep the 360.

That'll shut everyone up.

I don't mean to bring more xbox vs ps to this, but I don't get why people are so down on the PS controllers?

Maybe I just grew up using them, but they are fine? I have an xbox 360 controller for computer games, and its fine too...Neither one is better?
I take that back...the xbox 360 controller I have has a better casing then my PS3 controller and feels completely solid. The PS3 controller only feels almost completely solid (not very bad, but with a firm grip you can feel the two halfs of it rather then it just feeling like a solid case...if that makes sense)

Layout wise they are just different....both are almost perfect, both feel slightly awkward when using all the button, AND R1/2 L1/2 at the same time.

PS3 is a cool piece of hardware though. I haven't really used an xbox 360 so I cannot compare but the PS is worth $400...

I LOVE the ps button on the controller, being able to turn on/off as well as exit the game and check battery level from my seat is great.

VERY cool that they support other operating systems and leave things that open.

Built in bluetooth and stock wireless controllers is very cool.

Built in wireless is great and a underrated money saver when considering one console vs another

User replaceable hard drives, under warrenty, with out opening anything other then the HDD bay door. Very cool.

Little things, like charging the controllers is from a mini USB cable rather then requiring a seperate battery pack or special cables.

Same AV cable as PS 2 (and for that matter ps1?), I  have plenty of backups so I can leave one set hooked up to where ever, just unplug the    console a move to another room.

Free PSN! PSN kinda sucks, but I less lag then in PC games?

All the media server stuff is really cool, the web browser is a pita to use with a controller but its there. (Xbox I guess has equivalents)

You can use a cell phone blue tooth headset for a mic, so no need to go out and buy a PS3 one.

Just for the sake of filling you in, more than anything, i'll list the xbox's equivalents in bold.

I LOVE the ps button on the controller, being able to turn on/off as well as exit the game and check battery level from my seat is great. The Xbox has an identical button. It does all that, and also lets you talk to people on msn, play music, send and recieve xbox messages etc.

VERY cool that they support other operating systems and leave things that open.  The xbox doesn't let you use diff operating systems

Built in bluetooth and stock wireless controllers is very cool. Same on xbox

Built in wireless is great and a underrated money saver when considering one console vs another The xbox has no built in wi-fi, and the adaptor is ridiculously expensive

User replaceable hard drives, under warrenty, with out opening anything other then the HDD bay door. Very cool.Much like the OS, the hard drive has to be a 360 harddrive. And like the Wifi, 360 hard drives are stupidly expensive. Fortunately the console comes with one.

Little things, like charging the controllers is from a mini USB cable rather then requiring a seperate battery pack or special cables. The xbox has a 'special cable' for charging its controllers. And to get that you need to buy a little rechargable battery pack thing

Same AV cable as PS 2 (and for that matter ps1?), I  have plenty of backups so I can leave one set hooked up to where ever, just unplug the    console a move to another room.Never had any other xbox but i'm assuming it has new cables

Free PSN! PSN kinda sucks, but I less lag then in PC games? Not much to say here. xbox Live. I personally dont see what the fuss is about as it is far worse than playing on the PC

All the media server stuff is really cool, the web browser is a pita to use with a controller but its there. (Xbox I guess has equivalents) [the xbox has no web browser. MS are too paranoid about user safety, and the safety of the machines[/b]

You can use a cell phone blue tooth headset for a mic, so no need to go out and buy a PS3 one. All 360's come with a headset
And as for the controller, I wont go into it aside from saying I think it feels cheap and uncomfortable.

My xbox controller is wired? You cannot even find a wired PS3 controller (though you can use logitec PS style computer controllers)
Does the base model xbox come with bluetooth and a wireless controller? I guess if the one at the $400 price point does thats just as well.

I have seen the xbox wifi adapter, sucks for you guys and I don't really understand.

Them giving everyone headsets IS better though, simply in that if everyone has one then more people are likely to actually use it (though some would argue that giving more children mics is a definite set back, and xbox being the cheaper system is more likely the one to be picked out by parents).... But from what I have seen the mic wires into the controller and is bigger then your standard bluetooth. PS3 seems to be big on the "always on" mic, I think due to lack of buttons/standardization of mics used with the system..Buts its really a terrible idea, and I think less people use mics because of it... The Xbox uses a "push to talk" button more doesn't it?

PSN REALLY needs to be supported in game...Whats the point of all the chat stuff otherwise? How often do you catch some one using their PS, but not playing a game? It may happen, but only while they are loading a game
I still would rather deal with that then pay. (And I hear its supposed to get worked over good at some point?

The 360 headsets automatically turn on and start broadcasting when you talk. It's pretty nifty.

As for the wireless, only the core model didn't come with one as far as i'm aware. All the ones that came with harddrives/headsets etc did.

The PS3 ones supposedly do that too...I have yet to get it to stay off when I am quite...I don't like those level sensitive ones. Gimme a mic button.

Oh there is also a switch on the 360 that allows you to turn it on/off and change volume. The buttons become an extension of the controller.

Yeah the xbox head set is very good vicktor. It just plugs into the controller and has a mute button on the plug section.

I want my PTT though, you'd get less useless breathing.

And I really hate not having text chat in consoles. The only game I know that support text chat is Metal Gear Online. It's so useful.

I dunno, I like having microphones on consoles, regardless of the kids. They'll be more implemented in games as time goes on (as seen with EndWar) You get them even more on PC games, I've begun to realize. I can't go one TF2 round without hearing some little kid say "GUYS, GO GET TEH POINT!!!!111!!!1!" or something like that.

Some 360 games have text chat. In fact, they have this really convenient add-on now for the 360 called the messenger kit.

I've tried it, and it's really easy to get used to and it's a LOT better than having to plug in some bulky keyboard. I hope the PS3 comes out with something like it in case I for some reason get MGS4.

There is this for the PS3, although it isn't official. But to be honest, I would rather use a normal keyboard.

Looks okay, but the thing with the dualshock/sixaxis is, your hands wrap around the bottom handles, so it seems like it would get in the way. If it works, I'll pick it up, depending on the price.

Plus, wouldn't it be attatched to the top of the dualshock since the USB cable plugs in there? Rofl...I can't even imagine that.

I think I could still use the controller with that thing strapped on, but it would be front heavy...

Plus looks like it would be terrible to use the letter pad part, your hands would want to rest on the shoulders of the controller and it would be terrible.

My keyboard is wireless, but not bluetooth so when I plug the USB receiver in it only seems to find a mouse. Thats ok, this is the worst fucking keyboard ever and I would rather type letter by letter with the controller.

I like mics on pc games, we laugh whenever theres a little kid playing PC games, but I go to a friend's and play halo and the whole server's full of them.

and that little keyboard is awesome, what games support it though?
