To execute precise maneauvers properly you will need a joystick to pull them off properly, quickly, and accurately. Ask MCMT, Phantom, or any other great pilot. Yeah, for 'basic' flying a keyboard/mouse loses out on few things, but there are many moves I couldn't do without a joystick. Thus, Joystick ftw.Z-trooper wrote:

I'll give you that with a joystick you can have constant vector change in any direction, however the joystick has its weaknesses too.. and trust me, a mouse using pilot (who uses his brain) can be pretty darn deadly in a dogfight. Precision with the gun is everything for a suprise attack!!!

I also recently found out about a bug that makes taking down jets an even easier job. Not sure I want to mention it here as I don't want to ruin anything..
Works great against J-10's though.
i have better aviator stats then u and i use keyboard..but i agree im gonna go buy a joystick now

Logitech Extreme 3d Pro will do. I've also heard from a few people that Saitek make nice joysticks too.

While I'm here I'm thinking about replacing my old logitech attack 3; between the Saitek evo and the Logitech 3D Pro which would you guys say would be a better buy???
Yea normally I wouldn't. But Logitech wireless seems to work pretty damn well no one I personally know of has had an issue with connection. Sure a few broken keyboard and stuff, but thats from dropping them and throwing them in fits of rage lol =P Plus even when that happens call em up and they replace it for free. And as I get to play around with it for more than 30mins I'll let you know if I find any downfalls to it. But every review I've read so far has had nothing at all as a downfall to it.

Zenmaster stopped flying around 1.2, I added him on xfire to talk about his guide and he said that he basically flies once a month but doesn't really care anymore.

About the F35 (gulf of oman), I noticed a small trick to lose missiles - by flying always high-mid air and when you get/hear the beep turn/roll right away to left or right so your upside down and than pull that plane downwards to the ground so you gain speed - helps to avoid missile and gives a change to lose the enemy. I have some bad experience with the Logitech 3D Pro. I bought it on line (Netherlands) just after I got it I noticed there was resistance (bump) in the (x,y) as, not huge but a bit annoying. Mailed Logitech about it and they said there should be no resistance in the as. So, I got a new one but this one was even worse! it got totally jammed when you pushed it forward and it couldn't even go all the way back on the as. I got my money back, no joystick for me at the moment.BiZoB wrote:

I personally fly with sarge for around 10 hours i think now and i have lost count the number of times he shoots me down in a jet. His moves do work and i do have trouble keeping up with the mouse im wondering if its sarge or the joystick.

Great guide! However, it's my personal preference to use keyboard only when in choppers or planes. I've tried joystick and frankly, I'm just no good at them. However, I've proven time and time again that I can do just about anything with my trusty keyboard.

Thanks for the guide. It was great when I finally figured out how to take off but then when I just instantly got shotdown it pissed me off so I checked out this and some other guides. Using incites from those and just in game practice now I think I do pretty well for someone who didn't play any combat sims before. Everyone is always talking about noob servers well where do you guys play? Where are the pro pilots? I usually just play oman on moongamers and at times with luck I don't get shot down but then someone comes along who seems to pull of these crazy moves where im following behind them then they pull off some bs super turn and are instantly behind me. How do I do that move? Every one is always making a big deal of rank but I think it really depends on your competition. And I use a joystick but for everyone who bashes the keyboarders im sure with enough expierence you could get pretty good with one however Ive never used the keyboard to fly.
