Yes I thought about that. But think about it this way: How many people do you know can actually aim with an airplane? The only people who can aim and would make use of the A-10 uberguns could sooner bomb you out of the ground.stryyker wrote:

The Grenade Launcher was nerfed becasue it took little skill. The short-lived uber-PKM was nerfed because it took little skill.
TV missiles aren't easy to use. That's why they weren't nerfed.
LGM bombs aren't easy to use. That's why they weren't nerfed.
An A-10 uber cannon wouldn't be easy to use. They wouldn't nerf it.
Edit: and too the person who -1'ed me about the bombs... what the hell would an A-10 need bombs?

as you know, the gun is strong in USI, but the A-10 is still not overpowered. enemy jet can take it down easily, or some AA on the ground. its fun busting tanks and still you wont get a 70 - 0 k/d ratio like you would get in vBF2 with some J-10.
If they made the A10 what you expected of it then everyone would complain. "WAAAH WAAAH WAAAH A10 jetwhores blow my tank up too easy WAAAHHH WAAAH WAAAHHH!!!"

It's easy to shoot a tank down with the gateling gun and i think it's a damm good plane!!!!!

In my original post I wasn't saying the A-10 isn't a good plane. I was just saying that the gun is ridiculously underpowered. I was using the A-10 on a local server that I made. While I was using the Gatling gun I took 2 good runs on a MEC tank. I jumped out of the A-10 and into the tank with hardly any damage. The SRAW/Eryx does more damage to a tank in one hit than the A-10's cannon does in two good strafing runs.Ferdy wrote:

I understand why DICE didn't make the A-10 like in real life. However, they have taken a primary anti-tank weapon (the gatling gun) and turned it into a gun practically useless against tanks.
Why couldn't they make the gun effective against tanks without overpowering it? I guess that makes to much sense =/

HT Black Ops loves both we have a USi server and a Armored Fury server, the thing I like about armored fury is the fact that yes its ranked, yes its official, yes they're three good open ended maps that dont always cause you to walk into a tank fuck fest.shadow18alpha wrote:

Bashura Streets, you guys need to make more CQC based maps like this, I love that map. The tanks imo I still cant figure out, they're fast as fuck and the targeting recticles are a bitch to see through unless you're zoomed in which in that case they actually serve a purpose because I shot an apache out of the air measuring it with the scope marks from 2-300 yards away.
But yeah I love and support both mods so far.
I didnt get any video of my flying the a10 because I was having issues with fraps everytime I switched the views it stopped me from recording. So all the footage I thought I got is not in there, but here is a 10 minute video of USI I made in game, no battlecorder to make it seem pretty to show you why its so awesome.

If they made it so it can easily take out armor, then it would become another sniper fest at the airstrip. Right now, its bombs are a tactical nuke if they all land near one another, but it takes a lot of setup to pull that off, hence, its not a plane to be taken on a whim.

If the A-10 cannon is as useless against the tank as you guys are complaining, thats stupid.
You could have the cannon be effective (1/3 to 1/2 health on every good pass - or more ) without it being overpowered, i am sure.
For the A-10 and Su-25 to have thier guns useless on armor is just...well...sad.

they used the su29 and F-15 flight dynamics for sure. it handles well. ive shot down 3 frogfoots already
I like the A-10, even though I think the A-10 is probably the worst plane in the BF2 series. However, the lack of Air-to-Air strong weapons make it very easy to use and very effective. If you had to put the A-10 in a map with ANY air to air missiles, they would fall off the sky all the time.
In fact, any decent ground AA knows that it is way easier to shoot down an AF bomber with the regular cannon/gun than with missiles. Two hits of the USA main gun and about 30 rounds of the MEC/Chinese AA will rip a bomber apart, whereas two - three missiles are very hard to connect (the lock time is slow).
A combination of both regular guns and missiles is lethal every time.
Now, the reason why the A-10 seems a tad better than its counterparts would have to be handling. Empirically, I feel that I can turn and maneuver much more easy using the A-10 than its counterparts.
I also think that the A-10 bombs were just plain easy to develop. I would have preferred to have the powerful cannon and dumb rockets. That would have required a lot more skill from the pilot perspective, and would have been fair to the poor amor-men down in the ground.

The A10's minigun is total crap. Flares hardly work they are just shinny things which dazle the enemy and they shrugg and you get 4 missiles out the linebacker coming right at you ignoring the flares. Other then that I can deal with it. Bombs kick ass you just strafe stuff blow it up and yay 3 kills or so.
Agreed. I absolutely ADORE the A-10 in real life, and I'm dying to one day possibly fly one where ever, and I was so ecstatic when I heard it was coming to BF2. Then, it just plain sucks. The one in real life is much stronger on tanks.

The reason i hate the AF A-10 is because it's GAU-8 does the exact same damage as normal bf2 jets chainguns.
So basically a bomber from vanilla has the same strength chaingun, better bombs, more bombs, air to air missiles, way faster base speed and afterburner.

Just bought Armoured Fury today, Now I must admit I thought the A10 was pants the first time I tried it.
It wasn't has good as the bombers and was no were near the Fighters.
BUT!!!!!
Playing with the A10 more and more, I found it was a joy to use, bombing was fun and you can still take out armour.
But what is best is dogfighting, man I love it, just using guns only, FANTASTIC. Brings back old memory's before the air to air went uber.
One thing I do miss and I must admit keep pressing, is the afterburner.
Apart from that I have started having fun in a plane again.
It not unkillable like the J10 F18 or a flying coffin like the F35B, its just fun.
Fun to fly.
Fun to Dogfight.
Fun to strafe, god I love the sound of the mini-gun,

Much like the F35, I can't seem to get bombing down with the A10. Actually, moreso. It's a fun plane to fly though. I do also enjoy the feeling of not being in as much of a box since it flies slower. By box I mean the limits of the map...ahh you know what I mean.
