Where I live we imprisoned many Italians and Germans.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internmen … _Americans

I suspect we talk little about that since Italian and Germans are the "oppressor class" of modern America. I think more 'black centric' writers exaggerate Japanese internment as salami slicing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salami_slicing_tactic

But whatever, I plan to shoot my load into an Irish or Italian girl in my area. Thinking it over...Polish and/or Jews seem more likely.

That's a little bad-faith. Like 95% of Japanese-Americans living in the continental US were relocated. From your links, less than 2,000 out of like 700,000 [0.2% of] Italian-Americans were relocated. 11,500 German-Americans out of a seven-figure population (eight if you count parentage), detained. Totally the same thing. I'm not arguing that we should have put 10+ million people into concentration camps to be fair. It shouldn't have been a thing.

I think you're using BLACK inappropriately.

Given that white people have done pretty well everything in the world they're responsible for doing everything bad.

Either use white mark or non-non-binary non-rainbow mark.

Who the hell cares 75 years later? I am not counting the millions of Puerto Ricans who found themselves suddenly American nationals 120 years ago. We fight today for tangible things.

My 85 year old Spaniard grandmother isn't angry that her grandparents were suddenly stuck in America because the Americans took away her family's plantation. "The American government put us in internment camps", okay but you are a 25 year old studying economics at Stanford. Of course not everyone cant be an economist but there are plenty of white people overdosing on couches in middle America too. A lot of good racism did them!

Screw the upper class. A Kennedy died overdosing on ETC while Joe Biden ran for president.

Amazing that we figured that out awhile ago.

Was a nerve touched?

I'm not the one diminishing FDR's questionable decisions (or getting mad when they're brought up), because I'm otherwise "a fan." Even FDR buffs freely talk about bad stuff. He's your favorite president, but you apparently have a very limited scope of what is acceptable for an FDR topic. Bouncing from 'but this' to 'but that' ("here's 0.2% of the Italian-Americans who were put into camps, totally comparable with 95% of Japanese Americans!"), and then finally losing your patience, lol.

I suppose the Japanese-Americans who petitioned for redress should have dropped it because others didn't care and wanted to move on. Grievances invalidated!

I suppose because Reagan signed a thing in 1988 and apologized, that we should strike it from the history books out of fear that it will besmirch FDR. "Who the hell cares 75 years later," says the guy posting his grief about people badmouthing FDR.

i think you need to read more than those 7 history books you’ve got on your shelf if you think ‘the whites did everything in the world’.

even in the history of science, the history of maths/physics/engineering, even, in the narrow sense of your own specialism … erm, plenty of major contributions by non-whites and non-western thought.

that was straight-up murder. they chased a guy who posed absolutely no threat to them in a fucking pick-up truck.

it's the epitome of that scenario you warn about, when dumb people voluntarily take guns into a fucked-up situation of their own making.

Even my boomer mom who grew up in the Jim Crow South had harsh words for them.

Next up is the prosecuter who refused to bring charges. She needs to be held more accountable.

Imagine bringing ruin onto two generations of your family because you flashed into murdering a black guy for running past like you were triggered by some sort of racist predatory instinct.

Even Donald Trump had this to say:
"My heart goes out to the parents and to the loved ones of the young gentleman. It's a very sad thing."
The murderers: not very fine people. Bad blood.

e: Why do you think the sentences are harsh, mac? Haven't you said elsewhere that we're too lenient on people in this country, or am I imagining things?

I think not giving them parole after 30 is harsh. When they started chasing him, like dummies, they did so with the intent of making an arrest and not killing him. On the other hand, once they killed him they showed no remorse. Either way, meh. Pigs in cages.

They have a second federal trial. I think the death penalty is on the table for that. Weird but whatever.

Regarding crime and punishment this local case caught my eye.

https://www.nj.com/news/2022/01/5-charg … ander.html

Federal authorities have charged five alleged Jersey City gang members for their roles in the murders of a rival and a teenage bystander in separate shootings last year.

Authorities said the two killings, which happened just days between each other, were acts of retaliation against a rival gang.

They now face additional charges from federal authorities after being charged Friday with murder in aid of racketeering, attempted murder in aid of racketeering, and two counts of discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence. The trio faces life in prison, if convicted.
Mandatory life sentences. Very weird that the Feds would pursue cases against some insignificant gang members even if their crime spree was like something from the Wire.

your thinking on this is all sorts of stupid. 'kyle rittenhouse made a big mistake when he went into that neighbourhood with an AR-15'. 'they were just approaching him to make an arrest'. WTF? the guy hopped off the back of a flat-bed truck with a large rifle/shotgun-type weapon in one hand. this wasn't a peaceable 'citizen's arrest'. and, anyway, arrested for what? taking a fucking jog? stopping to look at an empty house-lot?

it's entirely foreseeable that if you, a non-uniformed person with zero fucking authority, screech to a halt behind a guy and start running towards him brandishing a weapon, then that person is either going to high-tail it or go into life-or-death self-defense mode. it's fight or flight. there can be no good outcomes from that situation. they surely knew that the minute they decided to yeeeehaw and get together in a truck to give pursuit ... again, with zero fucking authority to do so. why did no one with a brain cell between the 3/4 people involved or as witnesses to the incident once stop and pause and say, 'hey, this could be reckless/this could be illegal/maybe we should call the cops instead?' oh, yeah, that's because they wanted to be heroes and hunt down a negro with their nice shiny guns.

they deserve all the years they can eat. aren't you in support of the death penalty? why aren't you advocating for that? 'life sentences with parole aren't harsh enough because of the devastated families'. <someone gets given life without parole> 'wow that's kind of harsh'.

go and have a lie down.

they engaged a person who was minding his own business when they were carrying multiple firearms. i don't know what they expected. what i do know is that that guy taking a jog that day didn't expect to get murdered.

Regarding the girl who got killed by the cop by accident
Tyrone Napper never knew Valentina Orellana Peralta or her family. But when he heard about how the 14-year-old was killed by a Los Angeles police officer while shopping with her mother, he felt compelled to take a 30-minute bus ride Saturday morning to the girl’s public viewing at Angelus Funeral Home in Crenshaw.

“I just wanted to show my respect for the family,” the 72-year-old said. “It’s very painful to see someone lose their life at such a young age.”

Napper echoed the sentiment of many who came to view Valentina, who was fatally shot just days before Christmas.
...
Valentina’s funeral will be Monday at City of Refuge Church in Gardena.

At the viewing, Valentina was dressed in a pink plaid skirt, white tights and hot pink checkered vans.

“My daughter dresses just how she dresses,” Felicia Banks-Ali thought when she saw Valentina. Banks-Ali and her daughter, Jurnee, didn’t know Valentina, but said her death struck a chord.

“I’m here as a mother of a 14-year-old,” Banks-Ali said. “My daughter Jurnee and I try on clothes in the dressing room all the time. So, to imagine being in a dressing room with your daughter and something like that occurs? That’s pretty devastating.”
Al Sharpton gave a speech at the funeral. The lawyer for the George Floyd family is now representing this family. Both ambulance chasers but at least the family is guaranteed to get a big payout.

What I found interesting about the article how many black people came out for the viewing. The black cop who shot the white Spanish girl was trying to smoke another Spanish person. Black activist are trying hard to be respectful of the death and not sweeping it under the rug since it was one of their own. They don't want the two communities split over the incident. That's good I guess.
