I think she just failed to predict Trump. A lot of people failed to predict Trump. A shared American error that has cost us greatly.
Every President has taken every opportunity to load the SCOTUS, she could have retired and handed over to another not-rabidly-constitutionalist judge but no, she clung on til she died and handed it to a maniac.
Fuck Israel
The interpretation I've read a lot of is that she expected there to be a reasonable person in the white house when it came time to replace her. And then there wasn't, and she was kind of stuck. An unfortunate result for the rest of us, and maybe a deflated end to her legacy.
More so than specifically just RBG and her replacement, I think it's problematic that selections for the supreme court are so political.

Bob Dole death watch.
Had no idea he was still alive. 97, good for him
I am not a big fan of rap I like this song/video though. I found out later that MF Doom is on it. First/only time I ever heard him.uziq wrote:

same group did the famous Frontier Psychiatrist song
you don't have to explain who the avalanches are. they're one of the most famous musical acts of the 2000s. it's like explaining who DJ shadow is.
They are not that famous at all.
I, for one, appreciated your explanation, Mac, because I've once heard someone use the words "frontier psychiatry" and that is the extent of it.

The "Since I Left You" video won Video of the Year at the MTV Europe Music Awards.
lol ok. really underground. i don't think you have to explain who the avalanches are.Professional critics included Since I Left You on their "Best of 2000s" lists. The album was placed at No. 4 in Juice magazine's 'Best Australian albums of all time' list, and No. 10 in Pitchfork Media's top albums of the decade. In its review, Pitchfork Media bestowed the album with a high 9.5 score.[18] In October 2010, the album was listed at No. 10 in the book 100 Best Australian Albums.[4] In 2011, American hip hop artist Questlove named Since I Left You in his top ten albums list.[
MTV Europe, and Australia. Wow! Juice Magazine? A skateboarding magazine. Wow!
What does MTV Belarus and Oprah Magazine think?

oh i get it, you're doing that thing again where you think new jersey is the centre of the universe.
a group that has chart-topping albums for pretty much a decade hardly needs a footnote explanation.
i see you ignored pitchfork, the biggest indie music site in the world, who placed them at no 10 in the albums of the decade.
shall we look who else kept them company in that top 20?
20 - interpol
19 - spoon
18 - kanye west
17- lcd soundsystem
16 - sufjan stevens
15 - the knife
14 - animal collective
13 - outkast
12 - the white stripes
11 - ghostface killah
10 - the avalanches
9 - panda bear
8 - sigur rós
7 - the strokes
6 - modest mouse
5 - jay-z
4 - wilco
3 - daft punk
2 - arcade fire
1 - radiohead
a bunch of real esoteric names, there. you'd literally have to be a new jersey housewife to not have heard of those bands. they WERE the entire 2000s.

I am uninterested in keeping up this conversation. I will just let you know that I just learned they had a new album in December and am listening to it on youtube.
great job!
Give me karma.

Imagine being that old knowing that any day could be your last. Can't really comprehend going through life like that since death scares me. The dying part of death doesn't scare me. Non-existence is scary though. Thinking it over is almost enough to cause a panic attack. .KEN-JENNINGS wrote:

My grandma turns 101 in less than a month. I've had conversations with her about it. I can't speak for everyone, but she seems at peace with her mortality. She's outlived her husband and 3 of her children. She doesn't look at it as if every day could be her last. Quite the opposite actually: every new day is another day of life. I'm sure you gain some perspective as you age.
Larry King didn't. He had an interview a little before he died and said he was afraid of dying even though he made it to 87. If he only had 14 more years of perspective.
It kind of sucks that we have belief systems with this whole life after death thing, but some soil what comfort that might offer to people with the prospect of eternal torment. It isn't enough that you're going to die, and maybe horribly. Think of something worse to scare people with. I still get the hellfire fliers every now and then. Could even start a library from what's available outside the Korean grocery store. The other day I saw a "surrender to jesus" billboard with a miserable looking man who had his head buried in his hands. Great message of positivity.
Not a particularly unique take, I know.

RIP Tiger Wood's legs. Guy needs to stop driving.
after the third major automobile accident, one involving drugs/alcohol, you'd think the guy would give in and start having a driver.
if you're an athlete who depends on his physical performance to make a living (or at least to stay relevant enough to keep the sponsorship money coming in), why on earth would you keep getting in vehicle wrecks i do not know.
