Warhammer. I have no interest in picking this hobby up. I looked up the prices for this stuff and the MTG players who said this is an even more expensive money sink weren't kidding. The question I want to ask is what do you even do with this stuff?

I know it's a game. I mean storage wise. The things take up too much space to be on constant display. And Warhammer probably has a meta game and rotation in order to sell more plastic.

you've spent $300 on burnt and branded boxes for cards and you don't think fucking WARHAMMER has the same thing?

The cards take up considerably less space than a set of warhammer. Do you think all of that stuff in the picture fits on a small shelf?

i can guarantee you that the games workshop company or whatever have the equivalent of luxury flight cases for all that shit.

I am sure they do. But that goes back to my initial point regarding all of it taking up space. You eventually reach a point where you need to sell off your collection to buy the newest stuff because you literally can't fit anymore if it. It seems like a much more exploitative system if you need to resell off your collection every time a new set comes out.

that sums up literally 99.99% of all this stuff. it is over-priced mass-moulded junk. have you been past one of those nerd gamer/sci-fi stores in your life? there's one in my city and it is literally full of stuff waiting to end up in a landfill. harry potter wands. anime figures. rick and morty t-shirts. that whole adult-maladapt excuse of a 'subculture' is just producing gigatonnes of pure junk.

best hope for any of it is that you can display it on a shelf somewhere, probably in a bedroom because who wants that in a main room, and let it gather the accumulated years of dread as your skin cells build dust layers.

You don't need to sell but plenty do so they can play a different army when a new edition comes out.
Also plenty of people collect for the model painting.

I've played some of the smaller 40k games, like 10 units each side, and had fun but screw needing a trunk full of stuff to play.

What's pictured is what maybe 1-1.5k msrp, before paint. Course you can buy good recasts from china or russia for 1/3 of that.

When I was assembling my Gamer Chair I noticed it was made in China. I bet most of the gamer chairs come from the same factory since they all have the same look to them. It made me wonder if our trade issues with China has more to do with our overconsumption rather than them "stealing our jobs." Like do we consume more stuff from there than we have workers to even produce any of it if those jobs were doable here instead? Our unemployment rate isn't even that high in America that we desperately need to retrain hot waitresses to instead work in Harry Potter factories producing wizard hats.

What is the context of you playing a game of this? Like you have a friend into it or you considered getting into it yourself?

Well, a smaller version of the game called kill team focused on 30-45 min matches.
I have several friends who like 40k and lots who like boardgames. I went to a boardgame con with them and there was a warhammer corner where you could play various games of theirs that wasn't the normal wargame.

Also I love 40k cause it's so dumb

I guess I would play a Warhammer FPS but I am not sure what would be in it that hasn't been done in Halo already. And I don't even play that.

Relic made a third person one that's not too diff from Gears of War that's really good. An fps was made a couple years ago by some french indie devs. Beautiful game is all I can say for it sadly.

A lot of the games are basically you enjoy it more than the average person cause you like the universe. Like Star Wars. Battlefront, the old ones, are bad compared to battlefield, but hey it's star wars.

i did tell you not to buy that crap. they’re about as suitable for you in the long-term as all the gamer energy drinks and supplements. in 20 years’ time you can thank china for your bad back.

I'm using my mom's office chair that she never used when she worked at home. It's over 10 years old I've had it for like 9 and it's great, except I broke the right arm.

We got a great supply of opiates in ohio mac

NJ has legal marijuana so I will need pot to balance off my opiates. That is the responsible way to do opiates, right? Pharmacy major Uzique, that's how that works right?

i have never touched heroin or an opiate in my life. never injected anything. and it’s not easy to get hold of prescription opiates here. we don’t have pill clinics.

You're probably a bit late unto the game for that. The good news is they're probably cheap as dirt.

Space Marine, I built an entirely new PC for this game when it came out. The single player game was fantastic, and probably the best of any near FPS Warhammer games in the way Dawn of War was the best Warhammer RTS. Multiplayer was even better, though I'm not sure if many but the most hardcore still play. It's not FPS until you aim through a scope, but you get used to over-the-shoulder.

Space Hulk: Deathwing, more like L4D. Multiplayer is fun, but single player is bland. The game does get some undeserved hate. Early issues are mostly gone.

Vermintide series, instead based on warhammer fantasy, another L4D-like team vs ai. I've got a buddy on steam who played these all the time, but doesn't anymore. Who knows if people are still on.

RussianBadger on youtube deconstructs a couple well in these nerdy videos:

They're making a 40k Vermintide? What do you have to fight?

Gross, but I hope they capture the nauseating friendliness and mischievousness of the Nurgle factions.
