Funny thing about Halo on PC is that I never learned how to melee attack. I finished the whole Reach campaign with you without ever using a melee attack.

Lol, shows 343’s lack of understanding when making a PC shooter

Can’t you change the control settings?

I always consider it a huge oversight when a PC game can't remap controls. Also annoying when certain keys are unbindable (backspace is a frequent offender).

I think so but that's an awful default.

Melee is q I think. Some keys aren't like a normal fps depending on the halo

That's the way it kind of felt when it came to everybody you had to fight in Shadow of the Colossus too.  I was watching lots of Lets Plays of it over the summer and people almost universally felt sad killing the Colossi.

I'd honestly rather a game be delayed than released in an unfinish state that you can't really dig into until after two months of patches. Open betas/early access are obviously an exception. You know what you're getting into with that.

I can change keys in halo but I forgot its a stupid cascading effect. There are several blank spaces that have to be filled in if I want to change anything and I have no idea which keys aren't used. Why do I need cycle to previous grenade? There are only 3-4 types just let me keep go to next grenade.

I mean each grenade does different things so I can understand needed to switch back and forth depending on the situation

which reminds me, i've been meaning to buy one of those programmable gaming keyboards to be able to work around that^ issue for ages. somehow the moment i get adjusted to another horrible control scheme the idea just vanishes from my mind. maybe i'll ask missus to give me one as a new year present this time.

personally i almost never buy games at release. in a couple of years or so after release each of those "aaa betas one pays 60 bucks for" is either all polished up, has loads of free content released for it, works very well on modern hardware and costs a theird of what it did at release - or gone (anthem).
me:andromeda, wasteland 2, witcher 3, divitity games, dragon age: inquisition - all of those sat in my steam libruary for years because either i was busy playing other stuff, or they had bad reviews at release - and when i finally got to play them were excellent.
so maybe, you know, wait?
unless it's a mutiplayer game relying on a large player base, of course. spoiler dodging can also be a bitch sometimes.

I've read that multiplayer may come later. Also I'm not aware of anything special you get from buying it early.

The only game I really care about avoiding spoilers for atm is Bloodlines 2. Not that Bloodlines 1 had the world's best game story, but it made up for a lot with atmosphere. I also keep track of upcoming releases on friends' lists to reciprocate gifts. A buddy surprise-bought me Satisfactory recently (early access, but still a nice weekend burner), so I'm on the lookout.

So should people willing to invest money in collectable games like card games, tabletop, or even MMORPGs have a better experience or advantage over people who don't financially contribute?

This debate centers around Magic the Gathering players printing out fake versions of cards that otherwise are very expensive to use in games. Some people think it is okay because the game is unreasonably expensive while some others think you should contribute and be rewarded for it.

Since none of you guys are invested in this stupid hobby I wanted to see what you think based off the basic premise of each point. I particularly want to hear newbie's opinion since this nerd shit is something he would form a strong opinion on. Uzique's opinion on MMORPGs having micro transactions is relevant here.

I don't really have a strong opinion on it. House rules, you know? If a table allows it or doesn't, whatever. Play checkers on the beach with river rocks for all I care.

I was hosting group therapy at the drug rehab facility I work at. I was explaining how capitalism promotes innovation. I mentioned how "the holidays are coming and you might want Playstation 5 and Xbox...Xbox whatever they call them now. Those are examples of innovation thanks to capitalism" I honestly don't know what the next Xbox coming out is named. That's problematic for a brand, right?

Xbox naming confusion has been subject to much mockery over the years. They seem no closer to finding a theme that makes sense with the Series X/S than they were with the One X. It's somehow got a very plasticky vibe to it from the era of cold cathode lighting, Transformers angles, and product names that end in X. It's all very throw-away. But as long as it can actually play a handful of games someone wants, at its much-advertised 4k/120fps, who cares right? Look at Nintendo. In 40 years nobody but gaming history buffs will know the correct order of Wii, Wii U, and Switch. Sony almost seems to stand alone in this regard.
