I'd love to be able to snap up some of those old arcades and do a bit of restoration, but I'd definitely need a bigger place.
If I am ever rich my game room would have a time crisis machine. The special one with the recoil handguns.

I highly value your opinion.
Please keep us updated. I wouldn't mind eventually catching up on the games since I only finished the original on PC way back, but played not much else. Be something to pick at over next winter.
Meanwhile, I'm having to rush through the rest of Doom 2016 in anticipation of my copy of Eternal.

I liked Doom 2016 though I didn't finish because it got repetitive after a while. The reviews for Doom E. are very good and people spoke highly of the new platforming mechanics and dash and the series lost me there.
Platforming? Literally my least favorite part of the Half Life series.
Will not buy

Only played a couple missions since mac wasn't on. It plays like it did on xbox one. It's not my favorite Halo but I enjoy it well enough.
I'm more curious about mods like Covenant Campaign for Reach https://www.nexusmods.com/halothemaster … n/mods/306

I think the platforming for DE is a lot smoother than for Half-Life. I'm not sure if that aspect's easier or harder with gamepad, but m/k all the way for encounters.
The revamped Halo's on my laundry list to get to, but I'm more looking forward to playing the new C&C.

I challenge you to watch this without feeling nostalgia.
I felt nostalgia at just the thumbnail.

the battle royale part of the call of duty:modern warfare game reminds me of bf2 in places.
the gun-play is much less nuanced, though. seems all contemporary shooters are point-and-click laser adventures.

The video makes me jealous of the zoomers. BF2 was the game that was out when they were just born or very young and it was advanced and complex even by today's standards. Meanwhile my generation had Doom and Doom 2 as our foundational FPS.
I do fondly remember playing Doom 2 on the hand me down computers and laptops that my techie father would left me experiment with when I was a kid.
I still remember the Doom 2 codes by the way:
IDDQD : God mode
IDKFA: All weapons
IDCLIP : walk through walls.

idspispopd was idclip for doom 1. also idfa was nice if you *wanted weapons and ammo but not keys.
Will probably play some Doom Eternal this weekend or the next. Looking forward.

those new doom games look like utter shit, i'm sorry.
I'm not the biggest fan of primarily killing monsters for supplies, but I can live with it. I prefer the old style where health, armor, and most of the ammo (with the exception of ammo dropped by zombies) is placed in specific locations. Once you're out, you're out. 2016+, if you're low on health you just gravitate to the nearest fodder and hammer punch their head into their collarbone. Feels less tactical than learning a map.
Looks-wise, I'm not bothered. Maybe a bit shinier than necessary in spots, but I appreciate the various assets that went into it. A few unaddressed bits where cascading liquid or whatever just falls straight through a roving titan like it wasn't there, but whatever.
Couldn't care less about the deathmatch. I'll fire up zdoom or whatever if I want to go there.

I played a bit of Halo CE with RTHKI today before I started not feeling well. The gameplay holds up very well. It's like FPS single player campaigns peaked 20 years ago. On the technical side of it, I was a little disappointed. It ran worse than Halo Reach for me and was missing a lot of the quality of life features that Reach had. Movement felt worse than I remember Halo CE having. I felt like my character was gliding around rather than walking. And maybe it is because of the overloaded American internet but there was a decent bit of lag and rubber banding.
I get better ping on some Russian servers than I do connecting to some servers across the country.
I would like to play this game again. Does anyone remember it from 2005?
Look at Wolverine running along like he's part of the Area 51 raid.
