yes and the street is full of many more people who thought like that^ and never ended up in treatment. that’s entirely my point. i don’t doubt there are people with deep genetic predispositions to addiction or poor impulse control, or people who through xyz circumstances spiral into drug abuse. but the vast majority of people i’ve been around who use drugs go to work on a monday and lead regular lives – successful lives, even, by all ordinary estimation.
what i’m refuting is your claim ‘if you need drugs to have fun ...’. most people who do drugs don’t ‘need’ them at all. they are an occasional supplement and just something they do, among other social activities. it’s not some absolute and problematic issue.
