One could assume it was a serious humanitarian effort though because of how far he went in doing it to the point where he died of hypothermia from unpreparedness(by his own choice for the most true experience), much like any unprepared(for lack of resources obviously) homeless person would.  Dying for the cause just doesn't fall in line with doing it to draw attention to himself for being edgy, it's kind of hard to capitalize on that when you're dead.

Then again, his true intentions aren't written in stone so nobody can say for sure what they really were.  Logic will point you in the altruistic direction here though because of what happened and how it happened

Temperature wasn't that low and he was in a boarded up place and outside. How do you freeze to death in this situation?

the 'hipster dream'? he wanted to get into a top investigative journalism course. did you look at the guy? he looked like a tonk geordie lad. probably the least hipster looking person in the UK. and yeah, sure, again... nobody is denying that human beings do good deeds with ulterior motives. but do you understand a single thing about utilitarianism? or just pragmatically speaking? what harm does it do if one guy brings benefit to many, in the process of also notching up a plus-point on his resume? almost every 'kind' act comes with some form of self-benefit (even if just emotional) or self-advancement. look at all those young graduates who 'volunteer' or do 'charity work'. good christians? my ass, they want something heart-warming to put on the killer corporate CV.

you really are a fucking idiot sometimes. dismiss a whole guy's endeavour because it could also have been a net positive for him. name me one thing in your professional life you've 'done for someone else' that hasn't benefited you in some recourse or feedback. what a mong.

could have been lots of things... windchill, damp, general poor-health/immune system, etc. i dunno, why do some old people die when the temperature gets to a certain coldness, and not others? jesus.

dilbert lots of homeless people freeze to death because of the plight of the homeless/their rights in the UK. this guy has brought front-page attention to an issue that was previously barely tickling the back-sheets of other sources. his death was needless and an accident, sure, but he died with good intentions. you can't take that away from him with your petty cynicism and boo'ing.

http://www.newstatesman.com/politics/20 … tting-laws

A homeless man in Aylesford, Kent, froze to death last weekend on the doorstep of an empty bungalow, according to Kent Online. Thirty-five-year-old Daniel Gauntlett had previously had trouble with the police when he tried to break into the abandoned building for shelter, and apparently took the decision to stay outside for the night, risking his safety to stay on the right side of the law.

The news has been widely linked to recent anti-squatting legislation, after a bill signed into law last year made squatting on residential property a criminal act. The Morning Star's Rory MacKinnon reports about the site "Is Mike Weatherley Dead Yet?" which places direct blame for Gauntlett's death on Tory MP Mike Weatherley, who proposed the legislation to the commons. MacKinnon writes...

First interview done. Felt pretty good - Just hoping I get called back for the second

He basically said I'd be hard to top

Company seems amazing, too.

Make sure you're not just passively sitting there answering questions.

Ask some yourself. How often is the pay cycle? What sort of holiday leave is available to you?

When if any probation period lasts?

How are salary reviews carried out / when?

Ask those sort of questions and act pleased with their response. They don't want to offer you the job and have you then turn it down.

Constructive feedback, tell me what I'm doing wrong
Training suggestions
'What do I have to do to help the company more/be more effective in my job/go the extra mile' that kind of crap

How often is the pay cycle? What sort of holiday leave is available to you?
These questions entirely turn me off a candidate, if its not in the job ad it should have been dealt with already.

Ask questions about the company, in a way which suggest you already know who they are and what they do or at least that you've done some research.

I'd expect someone to know those things before they apply TBH.

"How much holiday do I get and are the chairs comfy" doesn't impress.
