What specs are you playing with?
I have a fairly dated computer now: Intel Q9550 quad core, 4GB of DDR2 RAM and a GTX 260 and I can play it acceptably on all medium settings

Not having any frame rate issues here...
Just had an epic battle at one of the bio-labs. Enemy teams had all four of the outlying bases which had jump platforms and teleporters up to the bio-lab. We owned the bio-lab itself. Took the Terrans over 4 hours to finally cap the lab lol. Fucking intense battle, got well over 150 cert points and bought soft tipped ammo and the NV sight for my LA/engi gun.

Had some serious frame rate troubles today, really pissed me off. I think this game just isn't optimized well for some reason or another, the game already looks like absolute shit with my current settings and it still plays like it too. It's like back when I had a Radeon 9600 all over again
There's tutorials all around the internet for this shit. There's nothing wrong with that, but the fact that they're necessary in the first place is kind of facepalm. Adding friends was easy enough. Then I tried clicking his name to spawn on him. Tried right clicking. Nothing. Looked at the map, didn't see anything obvious to spawn on. Neither of us knew where the fuck we were, and as many tooltips as the game was bringing up, none were helping.iceman785 wrote:

If your friend is in your squad he isn't very hard to find, it's number coordinated. How is this stuff not accessible? The game could REALLY do with some sort of offline interactive tutorial mode. And the in-menu ability to unassign "/" from chatbox. I mean seriously...wat.
As far as I know you can't spawn on your team mates. He needs to get a spawn beacon for 5 certs and then you can spawn on that when he places it down. At least that's how it was in beta. The map shows you as a gigantic arrow when you hit esc and go to it, you can also "hot drop" into zones that are under heavy attack when they have the deploy button on them. Hot dropping has a 15 minute cooldown.
In the deployment screen you can choose from the right hand side of places you can spawn at, either sunderer's, beacons or bases you own. I do believe the game will show where your squad mates are anywhere on the map as well.

I think I'm going to specialize as a mosquito pilot. Sooo much fun to fly around, escorting the transports and finding dog fights. Reminds me of the old bf1942 days before every plane flight with heat seeking missiles

Bought a .50 cal for my buggy, lol. It's actually very efficient even on the move
I think most people seem to slip up and don't realize it has a "primary weapon" section in the certifications area because it didn't already come with one equipped. Either that or they spend it on more useful things, lol. Nothing wrong with slapping a weapon on the cheapest vehicle in the game, which wouldn't normally come with a weapon at all.

Instead of telling you this stuff right off the bat in an offline tutorial mode, it just drops you into the middle of nowhere right after making your first guy. Then you get the stand around idly configuring your stuff in-game. It's awkward.iceman785 wrote:

Just dropped a ton of money on a Radeon HD 7870 graphics card, should be here in a day or two. I've wanted a gaming graphics card ever since BF1942 but never had either the funds or a good enough excuse to get one. Between not even being able to run BF3 and Planetside 2 running like shit, I finally justified it to myself. I can't wait to play this game with an framerate average above 8-12 fps
You might have to upgrade your CPU. PS2 is mostly bound to that. I get shit framerates regardless, but get way better if I increase the graphics options since it gives the GPU more work to do
Just installed my new graphics card and PSU and I can run the game on high settings at an average of 45 fps. I'm very happy with planetside 2 now
