Yes, though I was more into the X-Wing and Tie Fighter games. X-Wing vs Tie Fighter kinda sucked, but had better ship sounds.

Rogue Squadron was definitely greatness.

Playing some WH40k with my pals. Dark Angels are amazing btw.

Shotguns are complete madness in this game. Me killing people is rare. 60% of a team of even 5 people is almost unheard of.

I spent several hours trying to get Rogue Squadron to work on this PC. I still have the N64 version, but that requires a TV. Firstly, neither no Rogue Squadron games work in emulators. The N64 one doesn't, the Gamecube ones don't.

So I had to find the PC version, and it's installer doesn't work because of 64 bit windows. Eventually I found a guy who had repackaged the game's installer last month so it would install on new versions of Windows. He's a pretty cool guy.

Those games really really need HD remakes, or just a re-release in general like on GoG or something, because otherwise you can only play them on the original systems. Unfortunately the developer made an early days PS3 exclusive and died as a result (it wasn't an uncommon occurrence, Free Radical went the same way), so it'll likely never happen.

I was missing one single gold in that game, the volcanic crater bombing mission, I think its #14 or so. Haaaaated it. Then the file as corrupted and I lost my progress

I never got all gold on Rogue Squadron 2 though. Death Star attack gold medal was impossible.

It's amazing how much of an advantage defending from a fort can be along with newly added in-battle naval bombardments from ships that are within a certain range of the land battle. Fall of the Samurai is a lot more fun than the main game, it's really a lot better for somebody like me who never played a Total War game before Empire where all I knew was musket volleys and cavalry and not so much melee infantry, and this is also the latest era that Total War has covered so far since it's set in 1864 Japan

Tbh, I was crapping my pants at first seeing an army that big appear out of the fog of war with only two turns to prepare but they clearly didn't stand a chance by the time they got there

Yep, and once you upgrade to a certain level of dock/harbor, you also get coastal defenses so enemy ships within range of the territory the harbor is attached to will suffer attrition during their next turn unless they can get their ships to that dock and siege it to a certain level of damage which will disable the coastal defences. This is all only in Fall of the Samurai btw because cannons are the norm on ships of that age.

It's almost all bows and arrows and whatnot in the Naval portion of the regular Shogun 2 game, but you can also capture a Portuguese trade ship called "The Black Ship" that appears every so often in its own self-named faction, and it absolutely fucking pwns just about any native Japanese ship with either a huge amount of cannons to tear ships to pieces from across the map or with a few lines of musketeers that will pretty much empty the deck in just a few quick volleys if anybody gets too close:

Yeah that's how people either take them out or prep them for capture in Shogun 2 from what I read. Or you can convert to Christianity and build your own smaller European trade ships that have their own cannons to take the Black Ship out and they still pwn almost as well as the Black Ship does
