OK, quick first impressions review of winamp pro. Equalizer is nice, something I need since the signal to my car is too heavy on the bass and compensating with the car's equalizer screws up the sound. Crossfading playback doesn't work for me, but apparently it can read crossfade tags in an mp3 file. Wireless sync sounds awesome in theory, and was a huge drawing point for me. Unfortunately it's a bit messed up and I haven't gotten it to work 100% yet. It syncs to the on-board memory and not the SD card, and there's nothing you can do about it. I decided to just use it to sync an assortment of singles and not full albums, but half the shit doesn't sync,  it losses connection after a few minutes sometimes, and the playlist doesn't have all the songs that were synced.

In the end, it's got potential, but is annoying and tedious at the moment.

Android has come a long way since the HTC Hero.  Man sooooo many options compaired to other smart phones.  Checking out the CM9 for Photon.  Still in alpha stage though.

Get Stupid Zombies. 660 levels and actually can be quite the rage-inducing challenge sometimes.

It conflicts with the pandora app. Sometimes hitting play or next track in pandora will cause winamp to open

Just letting you know in case you were planning to install it. I just use the default media room because of the winamp conflict.

Spotify and Playerpro does this sometimes for me.

I think I'm just going to uninstall player pro.

Didn't think it was that bad until the 2.1 update.  Then it was so slow.

I don't think I will ever get over the fact that one of the current leading brands in smartphones had the nerve to (ver well knowing) release a shitty phone well into the iphone 3 era and then cut all plans to make it bearable leaving all those people that bought their heavily marketed phone (so quite a few buyers, mind you) with a phone as useful as a handfull of poo.

because the iphone 3 was so fantastic and is still supported with new software   you couldnt do multitasking or even change your background with it.  the simple fact is you got a early generation android phone that wasnt great (since when was HTC a leading brand?), you probably didnt do any research into it and likely never tried to do anything about it other than to whine to us.

Most samsung phoesn didn't have droid because they still used windows. HTC was the biggest droid brand back then. And let's face it, even then its was either android or apple and in the early days, apple was clearly better.
And the iphone 3 still works fine, they don't need to support it because they delivered a working product, improved it and then released a beter model. So fucking what if you couldn't multitask on an iphone? You couldn't do it on the Hero either because it could barely handle the one task.

Early android was a gimmicky OS for geeks and I'm really pleased to see how it has grown and is now actually competing with apple on the same level, but don't try and make the Iphone 3 sound worse than the HTC Hero, especially not when both first released, because I wouldn't even call it a competition.

Back then I had a Blackberry, which I preferred over both of them.  I've never used (or seen in person) an HTC Hero so I really cant comment on its power, but I have 2 roommates with iphone 3g and its really not holding its age well.  Both restart constantly and have freezing all the time.  Its hardly a perfect working product.
What I'm saying is you made a decision, probably based on no research, got a phone you didnt like and didnt bother to look up ways to improve it but instead just whined to everyone you could.

Yes, but a it was too late. The useful ROMs didn't release till a lot later and i just couldnt be bothered getting one for the last 2-3 months that i had it.
You need to understand that i bought this phone when adroid was still up-and-coming, the marketplace was just black and white letters.
My whole point is that i bought it in a time when smartphones weren't exactly in their baby shoes.
Sure, there will always be phones that are better than the other, but most of it does boil down to personal preference (be it model or OS). You should be able to buy a phone with 0 research and it should work (as promised preferably). A major company releasing a shit product in this day and age (or back then for that matter) simply should not happen, yet it did.
