BF2S Forums USB ports can't install drivers for anything

My friend is having a problem with her computer, whenever she plugs something into the USB port like a camera or a card reader, the computer tries to install drivers for it but it always fails.  I haven't seen the computer firsthand and I'm pretty sure this can be taken care of with a reformat when I install the new hard drive for her computer since her current one is fucking up and is too small for her uses, but I'm wondering if there's a way to take care of this problem in the short term until she can order that new hard drive.  She does modeling and obviously needs to have access to the pictures on her camera for it
