This has been pissing me off for the past hour.

I want to update my OCZ Vertex 3's firmware now I have some time free, and have been told I can't run the updater from within Windows itself (as it's installed on it), so I have to do it from another boot. I was told Ubuntu would do it fine.

So I download the ISO, burn it to a disc and boot up from it. The Linux updater is downloaded onto a memory stick for use.

I go to run it, and it says something like "There is no program to run executables." I google my issue, something to do with permissions or not having something to run executables, so I copy the file over to the "Linux Documents" and go to run it but nothing. There are no programs it offers to me, either.

I figure maybe it's because I'm running it from a live disc. So, I try to install Linux on a partition I just made, 10GB. Enough.

I can't install it because apparently it has no root file type or some shit. I Google the issue again, and I get nothing but shit I don't understand.

I figured I wouldn't waste time just installing Windows again on another partition, but right now I'm thinking that would have been the smart option.

Is there any easier way to be doing this? This Linux shit is just pissing me off with it's over-complicated-yet-so-seemingly-easy-to-use crap.

Stressed. Help appreciated

E: Just found this. Will delete thread if it works.

Yeah, definitely won't be getting another OCZ SSD again.
