Okay so I had this problem before but it magically disappeared on its own, until now where it's back with a vengeance. The right channel of my speakers is putting out a hissing staticy sound, like a de-tuned radio, over the top of whatever input it's receiving. I figured out it's down to when it gets fully turned off at the wall, and it went away after a few hours of listening to music, but now no matter how long I leave it on it's still there. Any ideas what's causing this?
Is it only when it's plugged in to the computer? Have you tried any other devices through it?
Drivers?
Sound card seated?
Interference from something else in the pc?
Interference from something on the desk?

for a fatty you're a serious intellectual lightweight.

Have you inspected all the cables? That could be a possible issue as well. Keep an eye out for any frays.
It almost sounds like your wire is picking up some signal, as if it's an antenna. Have you tried moving it around to different places to see if that helps?

I've checked all the cables, they're all fine. As far as moving it around goes, there's not a lot of room down where it stays, so no can't really do that.heggs wrote:

Plug something in like an iPhone as the source and see if you have the same issue.
I plugged in my phone and yes, still happens.Jaekus wrote:

Nice set of speakers.
After reading the reviews at the bottom of the page, I noticed this:
I purchased these speakers and installed them this week. To my shock once plugged in, the two satellite speakers produce a audible hissing noise when the unit is turned on. I disconnected the speakers from my sound card and computer but the hissing noise remained. This told me the source of the noise was coming from inside the unit itself. Even with the speaker volume turned down its lowest setting the hiss is still audible at my normal speaker placement of a yard+ away. I moved the speakers away from my monitor and any other possible source of interference but the noise remained.
Sadly, this might be a problem with the speakers themselves, maybe some faulty circuitry internally somewhere. I hope that's not the case, because they look like a really good set.

Remember Me As A Time Of Day
hah that's the exact problem I have. They are really good, decent quality, pretty damn loud, and really comfy sub to rest my feet on. I have had them for, what, 5 years now I think?
Unfortunately, you might need to look into replacing them.

Or never turn them off at the wall ever again.
Get a pair of Audioengine A2s. You will never look back once you do.

And if you want to match a sub with them, get the S8:
