I have no idea, I still got my stock gun for it with everything else maxed out
For the Hetzer you mean? I bought the 105mm yesterday using pretty much only AP shells and it absolutely PWNS now, I can one hit any Tier III or lower from miles away and most Tier IVs as well if I hit a penetration spot. Still can't seem to penetrate a KV's armor though but I haven't really been able to line up a rear shot with the 105 now that I think about it.Phatmatt wrote:

Yea the Hetzer, just got the 105mm gun yesterday. better than the default one for sure..
105mm howitzer has shit penetration, only the premium rounds have any decent penetration. You gotta use HE for the derp guns, that is what they are designed for._j5689_ wrote:

Derp guns in WoT pretty much refer to any tank with a short barrel.
Yeh, any gun that shoots HE primarily. I guess it started from the KV looking ridiculous with the huge turret and short barrel. I like to think it could also have come from higher tier tanks being used with HE rounds because "they do more damage" (people actually do that).

I also copied my installation and patched up to 7.1.2 and according to everyone who'd been playing it for a while, the French tanks suck. I didn't personally get a chance to try any but they all look REALLY weird and don't have very powerful engines, the ones I saw people use in game seemed to go at snail-pace. But that's just the lower tier ones, the higher tier French tanks are supposedly incredibly deadly thanks to the new cartridge feature they have where you can fire several shots out of a magazine or clip without reloading between those shots.

I kind of noticed that too, I played a bunch of matches today and yesterday and somewhat rarely felt screwed but I think it helps that there's a very large influx of low-tier and medium tier tanks to level out the matchmaking for at least a little while. I think I'd put money on it that the MM logic wasn't changed very much other than lowering the max battle level for medium tier arty and raising it for Type 59s.Phatmatt wrote:

And if the only reason Matchmaking isn't fucking us is because of the low/medium tier French tanks, I don't think that's gonna last much longer than a month or so because the high tier French tanks are known for being fast and awesome, and the low tier ones are known for being nothing more than a slab of concrete with a tiny gun, some well-exposed treads, a weak radio and an underpowered engine
