Your PS3 has to be on for the controller to charge. It will not charge the controller when the PS3 is off.
Get a second controller or a longer USB cable..... or both. I usually have one charging while using the other. The only time I need the longer cable is when a friend wants to play and the second controller isn't charged.

Setting up my Wireless connection on the PS3 was gawd aweful. I hate the new security function on it, well at least the way they have the letters and numbers set up. I had trouble finding my WPA key and then found out that I never created one lol. Oh well I hope this new email verification works and prevents further attacks.
Edit: I had a bad usb cord for the controller which is why it did not work.

Damn, how the fishnizers did I download Wipeout TWICE?
no clue but I tried to download them and they disappeared so I turned the Ps3 off to retry later and when I got back on I can only find the free PSP games instead of the PS3 games. I checked the transaction history and it said 2 games purchased for 0.00 dollars and there no where to be found so I can restart the download... I'm about to give up...
