Obviously biased but it was a fairly exciting match, first half was quite open, United controlled the game well second half though.

They started well but united got stronger as the half went on, up until hernandez's offside goal chelsea were better but then united were class, park ran a marathon tonight, well nearly :p

My bad, I did mean yellow card; I was just focusing on the result, which was a red card.

He'd had a few tackles before that too, the referees in particular in European leagues/European games have tried to stamp out tackles from behind, automatic freekick etc.

What Ramires did was just stupid, Nani was going nowhere, there's no need to clatter into him.
I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert here, like I said, I'm just going by what I saw. If the decision was consistent with the officiating in other matches, though, I guess I don't have a problem with it.

It just seems like red cards/second yellows should be given with more discretion, especially at such a high level competition, in light of how influential they are on the outcome of the game.

A yellow is a yellow, no matter if you've already had one or not.

They tend to be more lenient with the second one though, as no referee enjoys handing out reds, but in principle they should be equal.

Theres no way that wasn't a yellow.

The call which shouldn't have been a yellow was Terry's.

Last night was Ferdinand's 50th consecutive game without a booking btw, pretty good for a centre back.

How complicated is it? While he did receive a yellow card, the result is a sending off, i.e a red card.

And in this case, it seemed he should have been, nothing more.

Also the ref in that match between Holland and Portugal clearly wasn't adverse to giving cards.

2 yellows is a red, he already had one, then got another, thats 2

The thing is it was a silly and clumsy challenge in an area where nothing was really happening.  Those type of challenges will always get you booked, and Ramires was almost asking to be sent off for making it.  More fool him.

I mean the ref should have called a foul without giving the second yellow card - nothing more itself just meant that it was my opinion I was offering.

Like I said, I didn't think it looked like a challenge, but I'm obviously not as knowledgeable about the sport as you are.

Ok.  Torres is still the best player in the world though.  Money well spent imo.

Also this is way OT but do either you know the song playing on the highlights here: http://rutube.ru/tracks/4323621.html?v= … 0f2650a0bd

Edit: On the topic of Torres, don't you think a little too much is made of a lack of goals?

Pretty sure it's by Kasabian but I don't know the name of that particular tune. *Edit*  I believe it's called "Fire."  Regarding Torres - at £50million or whatever I don't think you can make enough of his lack of goals.  He gives you bugger all else.

So he's not a like a Messi that will use his creativity to set up goals even if he is going through a scoring drought himself?

Edit: That definitely was it, thanks.

Well, I mean yesterday Torres offered fuck all, but there have been matches where he hasn't scored, but has been very effective down the wings and making runs thats split defenses apart, however only goals will satisfy from this point on.

I am praying for the sake of Chelsea FC that this doesn't turn into another Shevchenko.
