Here's my old guild website

http://luciddreamkt.guildportal.com/Gui … ID=1662047

I can't log into the wow realm forums or I'd find an old gem.

It made me remember how good it felt to finally quit. I have zero desire to ever start playing it again.

So true, will never play retail again. Private servers, maybe, but just to remind me of how bad it is now so I never pay for it again.

the only time i ever get a desire to play again is when i get the general-universal gaming desire to play something that's 'contributory' or 'cumulative'. i know all gaming is entertainment and transient and throwaway-time... but sometimes i get an urge to sink my time into a game that will get me somewhere; something persistent. that's when i start looking to MMO's again. i don't really miss WoW, especially in its current state, but I am kind of loathed to spend more than 10 hours a week playing computer games if it's all entirely 'lost time'. in an MMO, at least you have something in-progress to come back to.

So I got my hands on some screenshots of a guy who I played with a lot when I started again in WOTLK; (I'm the warrior in all of em)

Here's our mage/warrior runup in 2v2... keep in mind that this was somewhere in season 7, probably around the beginning... my gear was absolutely horrible, terrible - as you can see (I had just gotten the axe over the Armageddon sword);

https://img219.imageshack.us/img219/4571/wowscrnshot091709215412.jpg

Nevertheless, as you can see in the pic - rating was 2167, and we'd get up to 2230 later in the season It's major fun playing that setup but later on it was simply ineffective, which was too bad really.

Much later in the season, I think this was before I quit; eventually got ~2400 rating in every bracket. 2390 2v2 druid/warrior, 2350 3v3 warrior/priest/elemental shaman (you try that, it was hard shit), 2450 5v5. We were going for rank 1 in 5v5 but alas some guy quit 3 weeks before the season ended, so no prizes.

Everyone I played with decided to roll alliance on Outlands, so I moved with em - my days as a night elf (I regret the choice). Soon as we got on the server we staged a little occupation of Orgrimmar, we'd eventually go inside and keep the auction house out of business for over 2 hours . Halfway in the season we'd move back to Frostmane though as the server seemed to be largely comprised of mediocre players with overinflated egos, and simply not being fun.

Exploring, by falling underneath stormwind (guess the mountains in the background);

Lastly, the Ultramultiboxer;

I have the same feeling tbh.

Well yeah, WoW had it's moments but it went downhill for a long time. I still had fun in WOTLK, but thinking back to it - the grind to get on top was unbelievable, as always - and the content was just not fun. Not to mention the horrible imbalances.

Besides, a game gets boring after a while. And you really just get bored with the gameplay at the core of the game, which never changes no matter how much new content you throw in. Which is my case with WoW. Been there, done all of it - don't really desire to play again.

it's impossible to find any fun in WoW now... i practically have more fun looking at old screenshots than playing.

achievements are, as i've said time and time again, a major cause of the game's focus shifting from group-centric play to individual e-peen

xrealm although necessary was a real killer imo, then came the change from ranking to arena. In ranking you'd still be with a group of atleast 20 people to rotate through the slots and keep a raid filled all day for AB/WSG/arathi. Both changes almost completely destroyed the PvP community and rivalries that kept it going.

Achievements was just beating a dead horse if you'd ask me, raid sizes were already vastly reduced and most content was done either alone or with people from your own guild. Realm forums just started to die off, and you end up paying for singleplayer online.

why do you think that x-realm was necessary?

because server populations and faction balance was messed up. battlegrounds were often either ruined by massive queues or factional imbalance; on some servers you had to queue for about 30 minutes per game, whereas on others (like mine) it was instant. bit of a game ruiner when you're trying to grind to rank14. also diminishing returns on honor meant that on small populated servers, getting promotions after rank9/10 was a bitch-- you wouldn't be getting enough honor or CP from killing the same 100 people over and over, 12 hours a day.

or even worse, I was lucky to roll on the horde side but alliance had ques of up to 2 hours. 1 hour being a good day.

(for the record; first I had an orc warrior, deleted him at lvl 40, then a troll warrior with which I got to 60, then I deleted him and rolled human warrior with which I got to r12, then I rerolled on my brother's server and levelled an orc warrior.. the one you see in the pictures)

AV was a 30 min wait for us in BC and a 1 hour wait in WoTLK. AB, WSG were both 20-30 min respectively in both expansions for Elune.

i stopped pvp'ing altogether on my mage (even though i loved pvp as mage) because the server had 15 min queues, minimum

was insufferable, coming from a hardcore-pvp background on an insta-pop server

up to 30 minutes was decent though, but before queing from a battlemaster came. When you had to walk to the instance to que there - it always meant there was lots of world pvp to go round in the area.

barrens pre-battlemasters was a battlefield 24/7.

You could get pretty much the same bars from Bartender.

meh I'm definitely not going to reactive my account just using it to see what's changed / MSN of sorts.

The new music is nice but that's just about all there is to it

no idea... think it's probably bartender or something similar to it, simply set hotkeys on a bar and then make it invisible, put a few in the middle or something like that.

Personally I couldn't be bothered with updating / re-configuring every mod after a patch of sorts so I only used the mods which were really necessary. Gladius, scrolling combat text.. some bossmod.
