i just love how galt has been provoked to conduct some huge psychological study of me, as an evasion of the fact that he's a much bigger (and more recent) WoW geek than i am. having been harassing me non-stop for the last few months, throwing out the "WoW geek" insult (as if it is even an insult in the first place) whenever i cross him, in a discussion about ANYTHING, he then turns up in the WoW thread with tons of images of his 'hardcore guild-leader' status and his '$1500 account'. rofl? it's hilarious that me pointing out this simple hypocrisy to him has launched him into this wise and all-knowing summary of my IRL character. i would loved to have read this from a 3rd person perspective. top class entertainment.

But it doesn't bother me zique, that's the thing. I'll gladly tell people that I used to play wow, and that I was addicted to it for a long time. It doesn't hurt my self esteem to admit it in the slightest. You on the other hand would be mortified so it's a useful weapon.

I played for a few months when it first came out, quit, got to college and my roommate there got me addicted. I got kicked out of my raiding guild (for making people feel bad about being terrible by constantly posting damage meters with me doubling the other healers output as a resto druid in vanilla) and I quit for a while. Then BC came out, roommate got me playing again, joined his guild, drama happened and I wound up as GM, led the guild through BC content and then quit a few months after I moved in with my gf. I couldn't effectively lead raids anymore with her sitting on the couch ten feet away and glaring at me because I wasn't spending time with her. I quit about two months before WotLK came out. That's my WoW bio in a nutshell

no i'm not mortified at all! haha! i don't understand in the slightest where you get this impression from. did i not just say about a page back that i would really love to be able to just enjoy WoW again? does all my rose-tinted longing for vanilla WoW really give across the impression that i'm disgusted and ashamed of having played it? you really don't have a clue. i'm bemused by you. every time you have ever called me a "WoW geek", i haven't been playing the game-- let alone enjoying it. then all this IRL analysis on top of that... simply too much hilarity.

mine is pvp/pve hardcore in vanilla. rerolled belf in tbc to try new content and pvp/pve hardcore for kara-ssc and first few seasons of arena.

realised game sucked and wasn't as difficult

never played seriously again

hence why your insults are a little off the mark. my time of WoW geekdom was over before yours had even started.

I never really touched on the PvE side of things much, needed to for the gear though so I cleared most content - but usually only on invitation of guilds / setting up pvp groups to do some pve.. I was definitely addicted in vanilla, skipped most of TBC, was very active through wotlk season 6-7, quit then.

No desire in going back now.

I just felt that PvE wasn't as interactive, you knew what to expect and what to do, it was up to the 39 or 24 other retards not to make you die.

Ahh, I felt the opposite. I always disliked PvP immensely. I was a healer and pvp healing was friggin boring. My job in arena? Cyclone, roots, hot, hot hot, cyclone, roots, hot, hot, hot, natures swiftness, healing touch, cyclone, roots, tree form out of sheep, etc.

And you wouldn't believe how many people fucked up that routine.

I did some time as a tank in WOTLK which was very fun though, moreso because most tanks are bad as well and I really couldn't be bothered with the puggers who'd lose aggro as soon as I started autoswinging the target.

I spent some time as a bear towards the end of BC. It was a nice change of pace. I used to out aggro our main tank by a ton so the casters loved me

I stopped tanking in WoTLK because every pug had a shit healer, or shit dps. Then i was plagued by shit tanks and shit healers. I tried rolling with a guild but on my server you were either in an awesome guild or a shit guild, there was no in between. The only way to get into an awesome guild you had to either know someone or have amazing gear, and no one outside of the awesome guilds had amazing gear.

Good thing I knew people... could regularily lift with a good group , + my brother was a massive PvE nerd. (illidan blades, shadowmourne et al). Also, being at the top of PvP required you to do a lot of PvE as well, either get the good teams or stand outside of orgrimmar and duel regularily and it'd be easy to get connections.

Still works even now, was trying to get screenshots and now guy I know is telling me that if I ever play again 'move to xavius and I'll invite to method'.

How far did you get? ranking was killing me, I was 5% away from 13 but went on a 3 week holiday so missed out on that (someone else took my ranking, bastard ), really couldn't be bothered in trying again.

Haha, I was probably the most hated person on my server. It was pretty funny too because whenever we got a new recruit in they were expecting this beast of a person that ate small children for a GM and then I'd disappoint them by being a nice guy My guildies all loved me as their GM but everyone would always be like 'Funboy is such a jerk, how can you be in his guild' etc. My shitty rep all came out of that one guild that booted me for posting damage meters. All they did for years afterwards was badmouth me on the server forums. It was pretty funny

Mine wasn't a pvp server so we had to find other ways to grief people. It was mostly stealing instances/raids from people, going into raid pugs and pulling the bosses when everyone was AFK.

our guild was called Gank Spit & Repeat, I can't find any forum posts for it anymore, but this exerpt turns up on google; http://www.google.nl/search?hl=nl&c … l=&oq=

I think pretty much all of us can agree on the fact that the guild Gank Spit and Repeat is one of the worst guilds ever made on Frostmane, ...
